This looks like a classic "best defense is a good offense" by the Fighting [mascot to be named later] of Illinois. Instead of people saying "how the heck did Zook get those guys," they were saying "shame on Notre Dame for being sore losers."

That's OK, we'll be watching Robert Hughes on NBC, and Regis Benn and Martez Wilson on...wait, no one gets the Big Ten Network.

I wouldn't taunt the Illini folk too much -- they're more interested in pointing fingers, whining, and making baseless allegations in the media than they are about winning.

They will fight the public relations battle harder than they will fight during any football game.

They are now insignificant. ND has taken bold steps forward by signing early 2008 recruits from the Illini's prime recruiting territory. WE have established a beachhead in Chicago. Better yet, we have a plan for recruiting Chicago,Ilinois, Indiana etc.and the contacts and personnel (CB) to make it work. However, we don't want to chase the second class banana out of Champaign too quickly. Let him have the C students. We don't want to create too many coaching openings in the Big Ten too soon or we might be losing some of our better coaching staff to fill these jobs before they can make a difference at ND. However, I have very different feelings about AD openings.
