Brady is going to be a very good ambassador for this program. I don't know if the moon needs an ND ambassador, but apparently Quinn visited it during his vertical jumping drill.

Anyone know if the Gray with a broken arm news/rumor is true? I've been working like a dog this weekend and just saw a post claiming GG broke his arm in practice.

Gray has a broken arm and is out for the spring...Munir Prince has moved to cornerback.

It's a fractured arm, but that's nitpicking. At least it won't require surgery or anything.

Munir's speed at corner could be very interesting. ND should be building some real depth back there.

So...which ND QB will be tranferring out at the end of this season...There is no way you keep two Elite 11 QB happy. Hopefully, after one of them goes, Big Daddy will use the scholarship on a defensive player, where the most help is needed.

Wait. ND? Depth? At CORNER? Somehow I must have gone to the wrong blog today.

Yeah, sure the Irish are deep at corner...deep with youth. Wooden and Lambert should provide good veteran leadership on the corners and with the surplus of young talent, we SHOULD be pretty strong on the corners. With Walls, McNiel, Lambert, and now Prince at CB, we shouldn't hear anything about not having speed in the secondary.

actually....

but that is nitpicking as well...

If JaMocha Russell is selected numero uno by the Raiders, and it is a foregone conclusion that they will, Pipsqueak Lane Kiffin will forever lament that he passed on BQ. And since Kiffin has a golden opportunity to become the youngest former head coach in NFL history, he may have many years to carry that pain. That Quinn is being penalized for our team's defensive shortcomings is ridiculous. Lots of quarterbacks look like young, healthy Joe Namaths when they play against the Irish, and Jamocha is only the most recent. I write this because I am absolutely stunned by Quinn's incredible athleticism as recorded by NFL scouts during the Combine and on-campus "pro days". I am certain that his Wonderlic test was even more impressive. BQ is both physically and mentally better than either Jay Cutler or Matt Leinart, and Russell is not even close to being of Vince Young's caliber. Factor in "The Mentored by Charlie Weis" aspect of his career, and Doogie Houser Kiffin will never live down the day that he chooses Russell over Brady Quinn. Somewhere Sam Bowie (the player taken ahead of Michael Jordan in the 1984 NBA Draft) is praying that Russell goes first! He most surely wants some company up on Mount Bustmore.

Gotta say I'm a little uneasy with "JaMocha." I'm just sayin.

The Cinncinnati Inquirer is reporting that Kyle Rudolph has committed to ND.

Actually Go Bills, they are reporting that he will commit to ND on Wednesday during a press conference at school. But the end result is the same, ND is getting another great football player.

FW...The name JaMarcus just reminds me of the name of my favorite milkshake: the Jamocha shake at Arby's. Just like the LSU quarterback, it's cool, thick and [soon to be] very rich! No disrespect intended. I won't, however, use the term again when referring to Mr. Russell. As both a penance and a service, I will, however, offer this excellent recipe:

The Jamocha Shake
ingredients
1 cup of cold coffee
1 cup low-fat milk
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 cups vanilla ice cream
3 tablespoons chocolate syrup

Directions
1) combine coffee, milk, and sugar in a blender and mix on medium for 15 seconds to dissolve sugar
2) add ice cream and choco syrup and blend on high until smooth and creamy
3) pour into two 16 oz glasses

Blue-Gray Sky Version a.k.a. "Step 4"

4) add Jameson's Irish Whiskey and/or Bailey's Irish Cream.

Shhhh....The last thing we want is for the Raiders to realize they are making a mistake.

I was wondering if anyone has any insights on how a player like recent ND verbal (as of Wednesday) Kyle Rudolph compares to Stoneburner (who just declared his intent to join Dublin teammate at OSU)?

* "to join Dublin teammate Adams"

ND is quickly becoming Tight End U

I couldn't agree more with the comment about Kiffin. USC worship is at such a fever pitch in California that a failed offensive coordinator actually landed an NFL head coaching job. I hope he sells some season tickets this offseason, because that guy in the Vader suit is going to be ready to eat his children if they wander too near the endzone come November. I actually think he's probably too simpleminded to consider drafting Quinn #1 - but I prefer to believe he must pass on him out of institutional loyalty, and will have years to regret it as the youngest ex-coach ever. Classic, voice.

However, as an ex-USC recruiting coordinator, we all know it is only a matter of time before his golden parachute as a six-figure HC for a PAC 10 school is deployed. I predict Kiffin is introduced as the newest Husky in 2009.

Indy, you nailed it. Institutional loyalty is the answer. I also heartily agree with your prediction about what Kiffin will be doing in approximately 730 days... introducing his system to Husky spring ballers while trying to untangle the mess he inherits from the Man Molder. And, of course, getting a restraining order on Jim Mora, Jr.

Perhaps I've missed it, but I've been surprised by the lack of commentary on the Sporting News article on BQ and the draft. Short summary, he'll go in the first round but should go in the third round.

Thoughts?

Anyone know what happened to Troy Smith and where he sits in the draft? It looks like he and Teddy Ginn, Jr. fell off the map and have yet to resurface after their schlacking by the chinless wonder...any thoughts?

Smith has been rumored to have a back-up plan in place - something about meetings with recruiters for an Israeli company ... with ties to a Youngstown distributing group, if I understood correctly. Maybe pharmaceuticals? Can a kinesiology degree get you a gig in that line of business?

Kyle Rudolph has committed to the Irish!

Voice: I'm plenty ok with the raiders not killing Brady's career. And the draft is a funny game, take it from a Packer fan who proudly wore a Mandarich t-shirt when we passed on some guy named Sanders.

As much as I find it amusing that Kiffen will be the youngest ex-coach in NFL history, I just don't think you can blame him for taking JaMarcus over Brady. Everyone knows that Al Davis calls the shots for the Raiders. That's why he had to settle for Kiffen instead of a coach with any experience. Would Kiffen make the same choice between the QB's? That's possible (or proabable depending on your take), but we won't know until after Al picks a few more wrong choices in the draft, blames the coach for being unable to win with his collection of misfits, then fires him.

I haven't seen the Sporting News article on BQQB. Link?

Unfortunately you need to be a subscriber to the Sporting News "War Room" to get online access. My wife bought me the hard copy when she say BQ on the cover. Funny (ironic?) thing is that the headline that goes with the picture is the statement that he's the biggest risk in the draft.

The Raiders will be drafting a QB sho can throw 60 yards on his knees. Following is a patial list of QBs who can or couldn't do that.....

Stabler, Montana, Conerly, Bobby Layne, Favre, Starr, Staubach, and Brady

Jake-

"Can or couldnt do that..."???? What?!

I love sho nuff the user-generated content on this 'blog.' Especially the inside scoop on what $500 and a kinesiology degree will net you in so-oh. You got sources people.
