Any reason given why Ambrose Wooden was not in attendance at the ND Pro- Day? Subway Alumni | Email | Homepage | 03.21.08 - 12:29 pm | #

Sub Alum - As of a few months ago, Ambrose was still deciding between a future in football or business.
When this season ends, Wooden will have a couple of options for his future. He's going to try to make an NFL roster, but he's also in his fifth round of interviews with Goldman Sachs. Wooden eventually wants to become a trader for one of the world's largest investment banks.
"Every Sunday, I'm leaving out of here after meetings and I'm flying into New York by 12 o'clock Monday morning and interview all day and I'm back Monday night or Tuesday morning for workouts and practice."
Wooden also plans to interview with Credit Suisse, and he is considering participating in Teach For America. Pat | Email | Homepage | 03.21.08 - 12:58 pm | #

Carlson's two 40 times are awesome. Evidently, as Pat has suggested, the lingering effects of the flu bug truly hampered him in Indy. And I'm glad to see Zibby's time so improved. After watching him play for four years, I was puzzled by his 4.52 time because he always seemed to play much faster than that. He had quite a few long picks and punt returns where he flat out left dudes in his dust. I think he'll be an exceptional pro.
Sounds like California Jimmy has discovered The World Famous Notre Dame Diet. For those who don't know what the diet is all about, it basically entails consuming no less than 600 carbohydrates per day. Voice in the Wilderness | Email | Homepage | 03.21.08 - 5:25 pm | #

Oh man, I know a lot of Jimmy's weight is added muscle and he's probably been working out a lot in the weight room, but can you imagine if he shows up for fall ball as a big fatso? I can hear the cries of "Dayne, Dayne, Dayne!" now. :) Erik '04 | Email | Homepage | 03.21.08 - 5:57 pm | #

One thing that stymied me was seeing that Geoff Price was not invited to the NFL combine. I always thought he was an outstanding punter. He did have a few shanks last year, especially at the beginning of the season but otherwise I thought he was as good as before. GB | Email | Homepage | 03.21.08 - 6:50 pm | #

I thought it was a bit funny that Jeff Jeffers said that Clausen was 17 pounds stronger than last season rather than heavier. Pat | Email | Homepage | 03.21.08 - 10:31 pm | #

I am immediately adopting Jeff Jeffers suggested use of "stronger" versus "heavier" into my own lexicon, and will ernestly endeavor to correct my internist's rather distorted views during my next annual physical. Also, henceforth, I will use the term "more formidable" for the word "fatter". Voice in the Wilderness | Email | Homepage | 03.22.08 - 11:13 am | #

I really think these guys will all be first rounders. Zibby is a top five pick and Carlson is more 4.45 than 4.9 in the forty- I know because I see them on the tv.
I know I said ND 10-2 last year and a few calls here and there and I was close- cant take the refs against me.
I really think ND is 11-1 or even 12-0 this year. I love what Armando Allen can do- he is just a natural rb with great speed. 3.98 forty from what I heard. pat | Email | Homepage | 03.22.08 - 8:13 pm | #

Voice - It's definitely him. IP address is the same. I just figured I'd have some fun with it rather than delete it.
I'm surprised it took 3 years for someone to try and pretend to be me in the comment section. The "I know because I see them on the TV" line is pretty funny though. Pat | Email | Homepage | 03.22.08 - 9:07 pm | #

OC mj,
Domestic light beer contains approximately 4 carbs per bottle, thus 150 bottles per day would be allowed on the Notre Dame Diet. Since nobody on earth could actually drink that much (except Mike Golic when he lived in Dillon), there are plenty of available carbs to be consumed via potatoes, breads, cereals, corn, pastas, rice, and sugar. The ND dining halls serve several tons of each of those starches three times per day, everyday. Voice in the Wilderness | Email | Homepage | 03.22.08 - 9:18 pm | #

Well, let me be the first Notre Dame MBA* to say this:
We're getting a lot better. Everybody better look out next year 'cause the Irish are going to at least make the Final Four.

Is drinking on Holy Saturday approved of? DJ | Email | Homepage | 03.22.08 - 10:54 pm | #

I don't know, Voice - do our big, nasty macho guys chug that "light" stuff that barely passes for beer? Admittedly, it's probably less expensive - but assuming they go for, say, a real brew like Guinness, consumption would drop to a more manageable 60 bottles per day.
DJ, I think the church is rather silent on the rules and regs for Holy Saturday, except that the church is to be kept dark until Easter. Therefore, I believe drinking, especially in a dimly-lit room, is probably OK on Holy Saturday. OC mj | Email | Homepage | 03.23.08 - 2:16 am | #

how long will it take Brey to realize that shooting an inordinate amount of 3-pointers is not a strategy?
when the shots go in, we win. When they don't, we get hosed.
That is not a strategy. that is stupidity.

DJ,
Both your and my respective snarkiness went undetected by the other! I am decidedly NOT optimistic about near future ND roundball exploits. I just wanted to beat lurking REAL MBA's to the punch. It was a poor attempt at humor by me.
Ironically, I consumed no brewskis on Holy Saturday. I'm on the Atkins. LOL! Voice in the Wilderness | Email | Homepage | 03.23.08 - 1:56 pm | #

I became 10 lbs stronger from trying the that new Fatkins diet. The simple 2 step plan produces proven results quickly. Simply eat until you can't move, and sit on the computer all day.
I heard they asked bobby knight if the NCAA should move the 3 point line back. He said they can move it back to the locker room for all he cares, it has nothing to do w/ basketball. Pat | Email | Homepage | 03.24.08 - 7:30 am | #

domer03, it's 2008, not 2005, and we're toward the bottom end of the Big East in three point attempts per game. I'd suggest actually paying attention to how the team plays before you levy wildly inaccurate criticism.
Yes, we need shots to fall to win. So does every team, particularly against a defense like WSU that gives up on the offensive glass just to get back on defense and prevent transition scoring. Mr. Wednesday | Email | Homepage | 03.24.08 - 3:33 pm | #
