Under "He's Back" you have it written "ND ability to stop the run". Just nitpicking. Feel free to destroy this message upon completion of your assignment. Brad | Email | Homepage | 06.23.08 - 8:18 am | #

Do most of these players pick their own numbers? If they are assigned them, then who's going to write the official letter of apology to Dan McCarthy? Everyone else should be fine. :) Erik '04 | Email | Homepage | 06.23.08 - 10:27 am | #

There is a Correction needed.
Your sentence should read:
Just another example that Urban will BLATANTLY LIE to a recruit (and probably the recruits parents) in order to earn said recruits commitment.
Every recruiting year more of these stories about Urban Meyer deceit come to light. The guy is a spineless lying, snake in the grass. atepesm | Email | Homepage | 06.23.08 - 11:02 am | #

If a recruit is that easily dissuaded then it is just as well to "lose" them.
While Meyer may or may not be to "blame", an 18 year old is also able to make their own decisions.
Far more disturbing to me from the standpoint as an Irish supporter was the QB situation in 2007.
Had Zach Frazier been psychic, he might have remained at ND ,playing a key role.
When the whole Demetrius Jones transfer fiasco occurred I really felt that the real victim was Frazier even more than ND.
To that degree Meyer{if true} and Hunter did us a favor. At least here only one life is affected. Dana Payne | Email | Homepage | 06.23.08 - 12:08 pm | #

Recruit: Gee, coach, I dunno if Florida is the best place for me.
Urban Meyer: Of course it is. We have unicorns that you can ride back and forth to class. Also, I personally spell check every paper any of my players completes. The streets in Gainesville are paved with cheese and cookies, and you'll be safe at night because I personally patrol the street as The Goddamn Batman. When I am not safeguarding the city and looking out for your education, I eat worms and regurgitate them to abandoned baby birds throughout the county, and then ride about on Spike and Cooper, my alligator skis in order to patrol the endangered wetlands. Not only that, but at Florida you will get a first-rate education, and graduate too! Brad | Email | Homepage | 06.23.08 - 1:11 pm | #

If you are laughing at it, its most likely because of the fact that you can actually picture that sleasy used car-salesmanlike ratfink saying it. Brad | Email | Homepage | 06.23.08 - 3:21 pm | #

Everyone destroys Urban, but the guy is a salesman. He gets recruits and wins games. As a huge ND, fan I'm glad Charlie takes the "high" road, but Urban isn't doing anything illegal. He uses everything in his aresenal without breaking the rules to do his job to the best of his ability. I respect Urban ten times more than a guy like Ty Willingham who would rather play golf than work hard.
People look down on Florida for the way it recruits, but remember who taught Urban and Charlie Strong what they know? Remember who bent a long standing tradition to get Tony Rice into school? Hating on Florida isn't the way we'll return to the top of the mountain, winnng games and increasing the ratings for that NBC contract will. mark | Email | Homepage | 06.23.08 - 5:22 pm | #

Mark,
I get your points. But don't take anything here too seriously. We all know we'd love the guy if he was here, but a recruiting enemy is a recruiting enemy, and there is nothing else to do at this point in the year than bitch about other coaches reeling in recruits. Brad | Email | Homepage | 06.23.08 - 5:31 pm | #
|
|
Good point Brad. That is about all we can do this time of year. Well the weather is nice for the only two weeks in Indiana so I guess we could bitch about other programs outside and drunk. mark | Email | Homepage | 06.23.08 - 5:36 pm | #

I'm with Erik '04. Can we give 15 to someone OTHER than a DB for once? I'm tired of Hwy 15 being the fastest way to the endzone. Poor McCarthy, doomed from the start. Change #'s, young man! Anonymous | Email | Homepage | 06.23.08 - 8:59 pm | #

Urban's definitely an aggressive, perhaps too aggressive recruiter, but if we had landed him, we would likely be lauding his aggressiveness and say that the accusations of lying are simply coming from ND haters.

I designed that shirt as a joke and posted it on NDN back in April. I never produced it, but I have seen where others have (someone owes me a beer, dammit!)
Speaking of credit where it's due. I got the idea after reading about a banner before the 1973 USC game that said: "Our Father who art in Heaven, don't let Anthony Davis score seven." in reference to the six TDs he scored the previous season. Joe | Email | Homepage | 06.30.08 - 11:44 pm | #
