Go Irish!!!

Does anyone know of an internet feed? My UHF antenna kind find ESPN2.
Thanks!

er' can't find ESPN2

try VHF

Hughes!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, I'm stuck in the 70's

12th game, Hughes starts, runs for about 50 on first carry!!

i like hughes

hhhUUUUUUUGHES

nice start. I know hughes outperformed him last week, but i wonder if aldridge's ankle is still bothering him. anybody know?

Did Lou just say JC is the answer to BQ? Oh jeez, he's gone senile.

Some good team stole our uniforms and showed up to play!

why was aldridge starting ahead of hughes?

Must...find...internet...feed.

This is what I was hoping to see when got into the last four games of the season. Fire and determination, love it!

voice - it could be mater dei high school. maybe de lasalle.

Knee was down.

shucks.

knee not down, season please end already.

if they bench hughes... i will be so fucking pissed

1) Load pistol
2) Aim at foot
3) Pull trigger

As a Meeeechigan man, it's amazing Harbaugh can read.

Hey Voice, I think we've already shot off both feet, we're probably moving up to the knee, possibly the thigh.

How does Radio Shack stay in business?

Looks like I'm gonna have to sit in my car and listen to it...hope I don't get a DUI in my driveway!

Tulsa, yes we are shooting into our thighs at this point!

Jimmy gave 'em a gift. I think I'll call him Santa Clausen

good tackle by bruton

another great tackle by burton. amazing

go UConn!!

Laws is SICK!

A throw over the middle!!!!!!!!!!!!

weis is an idiot btw

Don't tell me CW doesn't wear underwear! Commando. WTF.

The next time CW calls for that STUPID sideline pass, I wish JC would say, I'm not gonna do it Coach because it's STUPID!

There are so many good games on right now. Why am I such a masochist?

The last time that effin play worked Samardzija was a junior.

I've been screaming for that play to be pulled out of the playbook all season VitW

stanford wants it less than we do.

oohh. thank you.

Why is EVERYONE slipping??

screw in the big spikes

These announcers are horrible. Absolutely horrible.

Back again, had a quick lunch break there. What was our second turnover that lead to the blocked FG?

Wenger does an unusual thing. HE EFFIN BLOCKS!

DG - Clausen got sacked from his blindside on the first play of our second posessesion. Not a big surprise that the ball came out on the play.

Does anyone else think of the coal smokestack on campus when they see that "we are fighting global warming" ND commercial?

DG...

Clausen hit from behind ...puked ball.

Laws didn't block another field goal, did he?

Domer - clausen fumble on a backside speed move past Young.

Ryan-these are the announcers that call games between 2-9 teams and 3-7 teams.

The announcers should be forced to wear paper hats that say "Trainee" on them.

Wait wait, notre dame is 2-9? I thought they were 1-0? I must've not been paying attention...

Did anyone notice what the players' reaction was to Clausen scoring?

1-0 in Cali. Yeah, Baby.

These announces should have their eyes taped open and tied to chairs facing life-sized photos of Weis going commando.

Was that Ambrose jogging next to the play ...no way.

Wish we'd take the concrete insteps out of our shoes...

onehipdad- they're just building up the leg muscles. they'll take them out in the second half.

Very funny, Wilderness. In case the trainees haven't mentioned it, Tavita Pritchard is Jack 'The Throwin' Samoan' Thompson's nephew.

Domer Guy-LMAO! Imagining a Fathead of what you said.

Joe Sub, good info. wonder what old Jack is doing these days?

These are also the refs that you get when nobody cares who wins the game.

Taylor Bennett just threw a beautiful pass to Byrd. Too bad he's wearing a Red helmet.

Anyone catch the GameDay story about the deaf OkState cornerback? That was the best of the year IMO..

onehipdad - cornerback? Isn't there a deaf linebacker somewhere? Regardless, it's beyond amazing.

We can't block a soul

onehipdad, that was a great piece. Especially liked the relationship between the player and his interpretor. Dabbed a tear outta my eye.

I don't know why I know this, but Jack Thompson is a mortgage banker in Seattle.

You know, when his career at Wash. State ended, he was, at the time, the most prolific passer in NCAA football history. Hence the nickname.

I was blubbering like a little girl when I was trying to tell my wife about him..

He was the first Samoan I was ever aware of.

Boy, did Ragone wiff on that block.

When you think about it, actually nobody on earth can block a soul. Souls have no physical properties. So it's not such a bad criticism.

Just thought I'd add that to the discussion.

On the other hand, the snot that runs out of Weis' nose in the late fall in South Bend has very distinctive, viscous qualities.

My little sister is a junior at Ok State, and she said he's probably the most popular athlete on campus. What a story. It would be even better if he got a shot to play on Sundays.

More bad decisions from the coaching staff. I sure hope they are getting them all out of the way this year so the won't eff up the future.

Joe Subway... you know what I mean...

That was a crappy spot by the officials

On another note, I saw Beowulf this morning. It was pretty good, if you like a little liberal creative license with you Anglo-Saxon Epics.

Wasn't the huddle invented by a football team representing a college for the deaf. Until then, all plays were called audibly at the line?

that black site area 51 ad was the most disturbing thing i've seen in awhile...

Joe Sub you are one crazy guy. I, too, have been analyzing CW's snot viscosity all year. His California blend is not as plentiful as his November South Bend brand. In fact I named him "The New Jersey Snot Machine" back in October when it first started to really flow.

has someone already drafted walls on their nd fantasy team?

This is cruel and unusual.

They turned it over on downs again, I am informed. You know, it's actually less painful when you can't see it. I recommend it.

Since I'm home for the holidays, I was going to pass on drinking for this game. Sorry, but that's changed...

dodging another bullet...more Stanford futility...does CW ever suppose that there might be a time it's not admirable to gamble? Versus a real team...we're down 21-7 or worse right now.

Jetshark... it is on ESPN not ESPN2

subway--agreed. That's how i "watched" the airforce game.

The good news is, Darren Walls is playing coverage corner like he's up for free agency.

let see if we decide that passing DOWNfield is a better idea than passing ACROSS the field.

Joe Sub-
You could march into a local sports bar and DEMAND that they let you watch Notre Dame vs Stanford. If you're lucky they'll just laugh their asses off. Not so lucky, better wear a kevlar vest.

Maybe Belch is missing the kicks because he has gas.

The UCLA game was on the internet via a live feed. Can't seem to find it today.

yak - I picked Walls a few weeks ago, sorry.

so dear announcer - what was JC doing there early if not learning?

I thought about demanding to watch this game at a sports bar, but I don't want them to offer me a ride home on the short bus.

Oh yeah, I picked up Kamara too.

DG, i think you drafted everybody (ie, all 3 players) of note. nice foresight. I'll thus take B smith and neal for next year.

and wow, there you go getting points for kamara again.

That was the best catch in '07!

Wow, Kamara. Three more years of this guy. Three more...

That was a Sweeeeet catch by Kamara

Now that we got the snot out of the way, I can say it again:

Give the ball to Duval!

whoa! what happened to kamara's dropsies? that's a great catch, to go with a couple of nice ones from earlier (incl. one that he didn't get a handle on until he was out of bounds.)

No, we gave it to Stanford again instead

DG, did you draft Schwapp?

dammit

Schwapp is DONE - 86 him now!

WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!

Schwapp

And its negated by a fumble by Schwapp. Nice, why Charlie, why?

Why do we continue to play that imposter at fullback??????

Laws is THE MAN!!!

FYI, Trevor Laws sacks are worth 10 points in my fantasy league.

Wow. Just wow.

Thanks, Dude, I don't have either. Agree with Joe S. that it isn't quite as bad just listening to it...FUMBLE...okay, it's just as bad!!!

As for the FB runs, I have no effin clue. I chalk that up, once again, to bad decisions by the coaching staff.

I like Schwapp as a beast to throw some blocks around, but NEVER as a runner.

My hunch is that Scwapp has incriminating photos of CW.

Somebody tell the backs Stanford will try to strip the ball..

Weis is a moron. Schwapp should never, never touch the ball. You don't need three Super Bowl rings to figure that out.

why would you EVER give the ball to Schwapp, ESPECIALLY on 3rd down? honestly?

How many times this year have we NOT had a block in the back on a return?

1st down, rather. also: do our players understand that blocking in the back is illegal? did anyone ever tell them that? because they sure like it.

We might end this game with 500 yards of offense and 7 points.

I'm so glad these guys are living the dream, talking about their days blocking high school wrestlers, instead of watching the play at hand.

Maybe Schwapp has seen Commando Charlie prior to donning his pants. Since he has obviously lived through this, he gets to run the ball as his reward. Any other theories?

Just hang on people. Belichick is going to straighten all of this out next week.

Wasn't it Schwapp that fumbled near the goal line against USC in 2005 after Rashon Powers-Neal was suspended?

Asaph's Foibles.

That block in the back was crap... it had no effect on the play Zibby was already past that guy

10 points for you Joe Sub. Excellent.

DG - yes
JoeS - hilarious

Flip over to any other game - Wow, these players are fast! and the QB drops and throws! He throws to spots - and there's someone there who catches the ball!

Ball on the ground???

Is that 4 or 5 turnovers so far?

Not a catch...that hit the ground. DB did an amazing job on that play, though.

the player used the ground to make the catch.

Refs right up there with the announcers..

Jim Harbaugh gained some weight...

what in god's name happened to sam young? if he wants to be a leader, he needs to BLOCK SOMEBODY.

That looked like blocking for a smoke screen, except JC handed it off to Allen.

ESPN thinks Kerry Neal is a Sophomore and isn't sure who is coaching each team

OU just held at first and goal and OSU QB fumbles on 4th at the one.

Sham Young

the good news: now trevor laws has plenty of opportunities to get his 9 tackles and break some records.

Good one, Voice.

We're going to need the defense to score for us today. We sure can't rely on the offense - they're on Stanford's side. I swear there's Indians in our huddle.

Tonight: The Border Bore.

Five minutes away from hitting "mute."

T-Laws, how I will miss thee.

Schwapp fumbled at the goal line against MSU in 05. I don't remember if he did in USC, but if he ran the ball, there is a good chance he fumbled it.

After losing a yard.

These announcers think that "All over the field" means moving from DE to DT....

Guys, guys. That's NOT his GPA, that's his number.

Really? Seriously? Come on...

we pushed a guy into allen.....

Isuck Schwock

We give up the most sacks in the country, but, just to prove that we aren't one dimensional, we also have the worst run game in America.

Sonofa.....

How was THAT not a block in the back?

Shittiest team I have ever seen.....

Because the other team did it thats why...

the announcer sounded shocked that wooden didn't make an openfield tackle. that's funny.

Was that pass to Grimes deflected or a drop?

Schwapp fumbled on the goal line against MSU in 2005. He is too damn slow off the ball.

it was underthrown, then broken up by the safety.

I am truly going to miss Zibby!

Clausen has a cannon for an arm. Ball gets there on a rope...NOT.

I think Clausen has plenty of arm. Poor line play is tough for a QB to overcome.

Criqui on's All-Access

hey guys . . . i've been out of the country for the past four months on a mission trip. i haven't been able to keep up with my irish? where should i book my flight for the bowl game? and is my boy demetrius jones a heisman candidate?

this is seriously unbelievable

Voice - agree with you re the poor line play, but JC still needs to focus on getting much stronger in the offseason. I watched Brady Quinn, and JC is no Brady Quinn.

Pa-thet-ic!

That was a great job by brockington and crum to give up on that play.

Now defense is getting even with offense: If you're not going to stay on the field, neither are we!

that play would be perfect for a "how not to tackle" instructional video

Good fundamentals....good tackling right there. Nice play boys in the red zone.

merry christmas, jim harbaugh. we wanted to thank you so much for calling michigan out that we are willing to HAND you this game as an early gift.

Comparing JC to Brady Quinn at this point in JC's career is pretty stupid.

Fair enough, Lush. My point was that I don't think JC has the strongest arm in the world. Comparing him to "Tank" Quinn was a bad choice.

How about, oh, I dunno, any other D-I QB?

Tate just got belted!?!?!? WTF!!!! He slipped!!

Well, good thing Weis decided to throw downfield in game 12.

JC doesn't have a Div. 1 arm. His ball stays in the air too long. The defensive backs, who might be out of position when he throws it, can react to the ball and still make the play.

explain to me again why we don't throw any intermediate passes?

'Belted' sounds more dramatic.
And they are trainees.
You shouldn't really even be riding on this bus.

Anybody know if ND flies home tonight, or do they go home on Sunday? I ask because it is somewhat of a tradition to stay an extra night in California when you're there for your last game of the season. And the players will be blind drunk less than one hour after this game is over. Me too!

God forbid we methodically rush down the field this drive. I guess being down 7 means dump the running game.

Yeah, not a late hit on Clausen at all.

Who shouldn't be riding the bus subway?? The officials or myself?

that last throw looked pretty as it stayed in the air forever and the widereciever and db both had to stop and stand there, waiting for the ball.

What was that? A successful screen pass???

Did adidas send their new patented flat football cleats? Interesting decision.

Geez, I thought the old stadium was bad - this is worse.

Hughes plays pissed off, and I like that.

Hughes refuses to go down

Oh no...Travis Thomas isn't coming in, is he?

when these kids are seniors, all I gotta say to all you haters, is

fuck you
fuck you
fuck you
and fuck you

who's next?

All Hughes does is make things happen. That's it.

Even though we scored... I hate TT and should not have gotten to score there....

all travis thomas does is score td's...we need to get that guy 30 carries a game!

Good news is, next year...it'll be the back that gets to the 1-yard line who gets the score. Not the senior who wasn't even a RB last year.

You know, he works that hard, all day, why can't you let robert hughes get the score? is travis thomas really more of an asset than a liability?

That Polian kid really seems to inspire his troops.

It's almost comical that Thomas is our goal line back. Has he gotten a single carry outside the five yard line (except for the one against Duke that he put on the ground?)

seems like haven't seen much of parris today? think he has been taken off first team O?

Hughes and Kamara are the real deal. Those two are playmakers.

Why do we not keep Hughes in and reward him with a touchdown. Is our set of plays from the 10 that much different than our goaline package? I'm just saying that he is playing possessed and needs to stay in the game.

Rudy...another tackle on K/O!!!

If ND gets the OL to block next year, this will be a fun team to watch!!

DG--what running back did you draft? because if you took hughes or allen, i'm taking the other one.

He fumbled inside the 5 earlier - although it should've been a PF for spearing.

Honestly, I think my only picks were Kamara and Walls. Not sure that I picked a RB. It was a slow, lonely fantasy draft.

Thomas is horrific, but he's a step up from Schwapp. Schwapp is allergic to the football. He gets weak hands as soon as he touches one.

yeah, well, #33 has a lot of red zone fumbles to go before he matches TT.

Why are you quibbling over who scores the touchdown. The TEAM scores touchdowns!
I'll admit that every time TT touches the ball I feel like I've got the DTs, but for goodness sake, people, ND scored. The TEAM scored! That is success! Be quiet!

Go Irish!

I've never seen time melt off the clock like that. Maybe it's because I've never heard it put that way, but I'm shocked. And awed. Shocked and awed.

Travis Thomas. 27 carries, 58 yards. 4 touchdowns. 2.2 ypc

How desperate is this announcer guy. He just gave Mark May a long distance rimmer.

Schwapp is really The Thing. Can't handle the ball with hands of stone, so not really his fault...

lol. i though the same thing vitw

"long distance rimmer" +1 to you, Voice

ok then, DG: I'm taking neal and smith, omar hunter, and on offense hughes and wenger for next year.

Check that...5 touchdowns.

PLEASE DON'T GET CALLED BACK!!!!!!!!

WTF!!!

I LOVE THAT

please let that play stand!

Irish first half MVPs:

Def.: Laws
Off.: Hughes

The Irish can win this one, and they darned well better!

Are rimmers performed over the airwaves subject to Federal anti-rimming laws.

Best play ND has had all year.

that call was suuuuch crap

Someone tell me about the personal foul on Laws. Please.

Onehip...at least the "Thing" can block. Schwapp can't do that either.

Aren't personal fouls enforced after the result of the play???

"We have to be more opportunistic as a team." Is CW trying to say we need to get lucky, or that he needs to quit calling crappy plays?

Sigh..I feel a whole lot better when we have a good FB.

Wow, Mark May even wanted that play...

You know we are terrible when Mark May is pulling for us.

Why didn't ESPN show the PF on laws???

Mark May is human. Pity is a human emotion. Ergo...

What happened at the end of the half?

Two things

BS call and

Schwapp is terrible

lush-
cause it didnt happen

Bill Callahan was truly a Super Fraud!

Callahan is gone, but he had a better record than Weis. Ah, next year should be interesting?

KY 1st & goal on the 2 for the win on CB S

Question:

Could the replay officials overturn the penalty during the review? Or is that only in the NFL?

bruton intercepted a hail mary at the 1 yard line, lateralled to zibby. zibby ran about 25 yards, lateralled to walls, who reversed fields, ran another 40, then handed off to zibby who took it in to the end zone.

BUT Laws apparently had a PF penalty at the 45 yard line, so instead of a TD we took a knee at our own 30.

Tim Tebow is giving a nice Heisman push. Just ran a 23 yard TD vs FSU.

Yak:
Any idea what the PF was??

I suspect lots of turkey sandwiches are being made and consumed right now. Me? I am tryptophaned out. Just ordered a 'za.

Regarding UT/Kentucky...did anyone just see the field jucge and the umpire standing next to each other. Zebras with F and U standing side by side...my kinda karma!

it was a "late hit"? that's according to a friend at the game. Maybe he stayed on his block too long?

I don't think I heard when the personal foul was committed, if it was committed before the interception, wouldn't it be Stanford ball still? Also, if it was after the touchdown, it'd be on the kickoff...right?

Does that ever suck!

that was crazy with the lateral stuff

i almost threw up

yeah, i think it had to be in the middle of the play. trevor probably held his guy down or got into a shoving match sometime after walls ran by.

It is quite appropriate that it happened the way it did. This is the season that just won't die easy. We must suffer more.

Thanks yak, thats what I figured. So frustrating. I can't wait until we get a little more technology and can actually choose to watch a replay of the current game, instead of a replay from a game from years ago.

Hey, did anyone just hear the news on the radio broadcast that Westwood One won't be carrying ND anymore? What's next, then?

Tebow just connected on a long TD throw. He /is /man !

I thought the same thing Ryan... We still get the TD, penalty enforced on the kickoff. I'd like to see the rulebook on that one.

What a crappy, crappy PF call.

I enjoy watching competent teams play football. It's so bizarre.

Really an inadvertant touch on the helmet as he was falling down over the QB? F them!

Well, now we know. Trevor with an uncharacteristic extra push. Technically, that should've given Stanford another play. Way to go Zebras.

football needs more laterals

If TN blows their game against Kentucky Phil Fulmer might be looking for a new job himself!

I love how the announcers are downplaying the refs involvement in this game because neither team is playing for a bowl game. Seriously guys? I hope your kids never play in anything but national championship games.

I'm waiting to hear them say "well, its too bad Trevor Laws is hurt, but it won't affect the Irish since they won't be playing in a bowl game."

Will anyone be replaying this game? I might want to see it...I'll know in an hour or so.

Looks like Zibby wants to go out on top.

no flag?

All out of flags...

zibby literally ran over someone

I've always felt that Zibby has had some sort of runback curse on him. I sincerely hope it doesn't follow him into the NFL.

I definitely loved the forearm shiver by Z on the punter at the end. Boom!

When you play in the Inconsequential Bowl you get lousy refs, lousy TV crew, lousy everything. And we have nobody to blame but ourselves. So let's all take another bite of the shit sandwich, and pray to God that this is just an aberration and '08 is going to much, much better. Mmmm. Shit.

ky just blew a golden opportunity to win in 2OT - going to #3.

THROW IT AWAY YOU FUCKIN IDIOT

Looks like Clausen is tired of throwing incompletions...he'll just run it out of bounds instead.

Versatility. The stuff legends are made of.

Voice, what will be a good season next year? I'm looking forward to better ball, but 09 is the season I can't wait for. Just curious of your opinion.

Voice, is it a bittersweet taste knowing next year will (should) be better?

Who's the chick on Stanford's D?

Man we can sure make a mediocre team look like a BCS team..

Wow, Maust kicks a great one. I think they should decline that penalty so he can keep the stats.

Hard to turn down an automatic first down.

Next year 6-6 will be nice, so long as we hit people, block well and show some progress. No more of this clusterf*ck stuff.

WOW!

Grimes' hands are looking a bit more like they did last season. Two weeks in a row he's made a great grab.

Great, great catch.

No Catch Grimes, meet All Catch Grimes. He's your friend. Learn from him.

First ball JC threw ahead of a receiver. Nice catch Grimes.

Yo, Dude, the taste is just shitty. No other words can really describe it.

Agreed Voice, always appreciate your thoughts! I've been talking people off the ledge all season.

onehipdad - i think you underestimate weis' decision making.

Who's wearing Grimes jersey?

HORRRRRRIBLE CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's an entire season highlight reel in one catch. Very nice Mr. Grimes.

I'd like to see 6 to 8 wins next year, and perhaps more importantly, a bowl victory.

Shit call by the replay officials, by the way.

lolol

I can't even see the game and know that was a bad call!!!!

Fake kick?

Classic BOHICA...Bend over here it comes again. Refs reamed us but good.

Apparently the refs and the announcers are in the same boat:

well, they're not going to a bowl game. Let's just fuck with these calls.

So, what are the chances of getting these officials fined after this game? At least the same amount that they bet on the game...

worst blown reviewed call I've seen all year, no question

OK, I can't see it...was it that bad? It sounds like it must have been.

are you freeeeaaakin kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What part of "indisputable evidence" do they not understand?

The worst reversal in the history of college football, especially considering the clear replays provided by your World Wide Leader in Sports Entertainment (tm).

awful... we wuz robbed

these refs are almost as bad as the pitt game refs in Ty's last year...unbelievable...

why am I not surprised that the booth refs are PAC 10

Officiating crew should be FIRED!!

KY going to 4OT.

Ryan, what's your reference?

yeah we're not exaggerating, there was no question, and definitely no question by the replay tenets that it has to be conclusive to overturn ruling on field

The best we'll get is a Monday AM story on ESPN that says "Pac-10 refs admit they blew call in ND-Stanford game"

unbelievable...it's just wrong. there's no gray area there. he caught it.

we sure like firing people on this blog

onehipdad- just saying...if weis is putting in TT after Hughes does all the work, why not let Maust get another punt inside the 20??

Great...maybe I'm back to being glad I can only hear it...can't afford to shoot anymore TVs

Careful Reno, you could be next...

For those who can't see it: there was absolutely NOTHING we were shown on video that suggested that hit the ground. In fact, it looked indisputable the other way.

I think the closest reasoning they had was, "well its an ND player, and does anyone think he could actually make that catch? even if i can't see a reason why, I'm guessing it had to hit the ground."

I love how the announcers say "they'll get this right." like they've nailed every call so far this game.

Reno, you're fired.

That was one of the best catches I have ever seen. I feel so bad for Grimes. Shame on the Pac-10 video booth for doing that. That's disgusting. It was obviously a reception.

Thanks Yak

ohd - i'm pretty sure i got fired during last week's game thread. i'm excited to get the extra company in the cfb unemployment line.

I'm reminded that radios cost so much less than TVs. I need to start budgeting this shit!

BTW, Oregon is losing to UCLA 9-0 at the beginning of the 4th. Who knew one player could mean so much to a team?

It's awesome to have the best highlight of your team's season nullified by a clearly biased replay booth. I am furious.

Ditto Fighting Binny - beats one I saw Mike Williams make for the University of Spoiled Children vs. ASU a few years back - til now the most athletic catch I'd seen in college. Grimes was 100% clean catch.

when i was watching it, i thought clausen overthrew it, and by way of terrible officiating, i guess it will stay that way. honestly though, that catch was better than samardzijas against purdue in 05 and against gt last year.

PAC 10 officials have been pulling this crap since the 1964 USC game when they called a holding penalty on a 1-yd run at the goal Line.

It was such an incredible catch combined with the fact that Grimes miraculously kept the ball from touching the ground (his hands were between turf and leather), the replay refs just could not believe their lying eyes. The catch was so good and so rare the refs think something HAS to be wrong with it, even though visual evidence supports that it truly was a miracle catch.

Is it Big East Officials but PAC-10 booth?

Replay officials are fucking cocksmokers.

What is that catch that Pontiac uses in their "game changing performance" promos? The one where the guy caught it behind the defender's neck?

Sorry for the above post.

Yeah. Pillow biters.

I apologize for mine too.

I second that Domer Guy, fucking cocksmokers man

why why why are we throwing on 1st down? ever?

"Our producers have informed us that the reason why it was incomplete is because the replay booth has been lavished with gifts by the Pac-10."

Jude, that's Tyrone "Crazy Legs" Prothro from Alabama. 05 I believe?

hey jude, (sry had to) tyrone prothro of alabama against southern miss

Cool. I found it. Tyrone Prothro vs Southern Miss. Thanks.

Prothro was an exciting player. Nasty broken leg later in the 05 season. My roommate and I started watching the 'Bama games just because of Prothro that season.

SOMEONE TELL THAT ASSHAT TO THROW THE DAMN BALL AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

would someone text Jimmy and tell him to throw it away once in a while?

Announcers made a Caddyshack joke. Tell me again why any one of us can't do their job?

Ainge threw 7 touchdowns...wow. College overtime is awesome.

YESSSSSSSSSSSS

Matt Ryan-esque!

Since this year won't end gracefully, I'm sensing that an overtime situation is unfolding. Make that six overtimes. Poetic.

'07 will go down as not only the season of the worst performances in ND history but the largest number of poorly played and boring games as well. Except for our opponents.

Wow, Lambert...just...wow.

Don't worry, it will be reversed...

He should have slid five yards earlier.

These announcers are complete douches. It was not intentional. Football is a collision sport, Twerps.

he didnt slide.. terrible announcers. worse refs.

Dirty?

Told ya.... bastards...

not intentional, but clearly a PF.

this game epitomizes ND's season--horrible play calls, horrible tackling, weird calls, weird everything.

Not dirty. Lambert already had him teed up when Pritchard decided (late) to slide. Unfortunate for the QB that he took such a nasty hit, but it wasn't a penalty, imho.

"I'm sure these officials will hear about that from their supervisors." And the blown call against Grimes...

Has any call not been reversed?

Officials? We're not officials. But we did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Yak... you shoulda kept with the whole horrible thing...

Does anyone else think "Zibby is a boxer" is the most overhyped non-story since "Brady's sister dates AJ Hawk" during the Fiesta Bowl?

Jude - not as overhyped as Zibby is a tackler.

Yes.

BUSH PUSH PLUS 3.

I'll let someone else comment on this bullshit call.

what about JC's recruitment/hype?

or the Ty/CW comparison?

I feel like I'm listening to "The Miracle Worker" Do the officals on the field have canes?

They are all BS calls at this point.

I don't know how recruits are staying out of Stanford after hearing that Harbaugh has a championship with Indy Racing. That's pretty amazing. Sign me up, coach. What? You sold off your ownership?

Officials aren't doing too bad but replay booth has the advantage of B-I-A-S.

It's clear that the officials won't let ND score, so Harbaugh should kick the FG here.

wow. there's a whole other quarter of this nonsense? can we just call it a tie and go home?

These announcers are just MOTORMOUTHS. They just go on and on and on and on and on...

Looks like Uconn's bubble has burst...I still can't believe that WV is that good, are they??

The explanations of these calls are as bad as the calls themselves. These officials are pathetic!

A BTW between quarters....if ND ever goes to those mono-color unis....and accidents begin to befall Kevin White and friends....it will be me...

That Indy Racing League is to racing what the Arena League is to football. Somewhere (like Spain) they give a shit.

Did anyone comment on Jack Arute's new facial hair yet? My money is on a later-in-life crisis.

Review that call on the missed FG. In fact, don't review it, just give them a 1st and Goal and give them a new chance.

one of our best plays all year...the missed FG.

Man, these guys really are as bad as us..

Sure glad they didn't review it, lol..

Jack Arute's facial pubes make him feel manly while he drives a new red Corvette. Probably just divorced and is in full panic mode.

anyone see why the replay officials overturned the call? They said they saw the ball move up in his hand. They didn't see it touch the ground. They assume it touched the ground because it moved up in his hand!! Horrible officials.

Which guy in the booth was surprised by the facemask? He unstrapped his chinstrap!

Announcers completely missed that facemask

I know what bad football looks like. And this is it.

Good to see Uconn getting their ass handed to them by a real team. I grew up near there and am actually a Uconn hoops fan if they're not playing us.

This year my Uconn friends have sent a constant stream of shit talking comparing their football team to us. As if they're even in the same league.

Take a seat Huskies...it's not as easy as it looks.

Give the Ball to Duval!

PF on Grimes for being pushed.

Review the offsetting penalties...should be Cardinal ball on the 1

Is it just me, or is it just ND guys slipping and sliding?

get rid of the ball!!!!!!

So, Clausen gets headbutted and nobody on the online does anything about it? Come on...

lolol
i would really like to end the season with a brawl

RUDY RUDY RUDY

a nasty team wouldn't let that happen

I don't like how OUR linemen just pushed JC after his penalty. It was unfriendly, and disrespectful. We may indeed have huge problems on the inside.

pussy ass refs with the offsetting PFs, fucking switzerland

What the hell did Clausen do to deserve the unsportsmanlike penalty!!! FUCK THESE REFS

switzerland! LOL!

Sooo, #20's going to pretend that headbutting the quarterback is nothing? really? you're shocked you got a penalty?

what did 7 do? 20 gave the headbut. He should be thrown out of the game for "blow to the head".

anyone?

I don't understand this game at all.
neither team wants to win
the officials are aiding that
playcalling on both sides is terrible
nobody on our offense gives a shit about clausen

Sorry, didn't mean nobody 'online'. I'm pretty sure if someone headbutted clausen in front of us, we'd have something more to say than the 300lb guys who got mad at clausen for being a man.

Voice, they just didn't want him to get PF, that's what teamates should do so that your guy saves face by not backing down but doesn't get the penalty

i'm not sure where the off-setting penalties are. i'm sure there were words exchanged, but both grimes and clausen appeared innocent on those off-setting PFs. these trainees might never be allowed to officiate a game between teams in the top two-thirds of their respective conferences.

they are hitting hard now

Sorry again Voice, the lineman are blaming Clausen?...I'm still listening to the game...if so, ND has big problems inside.

I have been considering the opinion of late that the team does not like JC. After seeing what just transpired, I am now sure it is true.

Who doesn't think the o-line went to protect JC? They went to pick him up and get him away from the sideline. #72 went after the guy that was in Jimmy's face. No one thought that was going to be offsetting, so there was no reason to give an excuse for the refs to give them one.

I do love Brian Smith's tenacity

ok offensive line

they just cheap shotted 11 and 7

grow a pair and put someone on the ground and then go get one of their db's and put them on the ground

eye for an eye

Exactly JohnWa, Voice you're way off, this is how completely speculative rumors start

That will be very bad for the future...sorry for stating the obvious!

Let's go offense. It's a good field position.

And now Corwin Brown came from the Pats, not the Jets. These guys are worse than my gf at knowing what is going on in football

Shark, our linemen hostilely pushed JC back toward the huddle after a Stanford guy headbutted him. If I was Zibby or anybody on that team who has an ounce of pride, those o linemen would be beaten to within an centimeter of their worthless lives. I am pissed!!! Anybody else seeing what i see?

IMHO JC has been overrated since hs. But he has shown flashes of adequacy the last few weeks.

I'm all for eye for an eye. I'm not happy they hurt the Stanford QB, but the head shot was a makeup for the one they laid on Hughes. What I did like seeing though, was an offensive line that didn't take what would have been an easy excuse for the refs to toss one of them by going after one of the Stanford defensive players in what is a winnable game. If it gets out of hand, then it's time to start cracking skulls.

Officials or announcers--who is worse??

I'm feeling this game go to 4 overtimes - and we'll still be at 14-14...

Ugh.

Officials. Not even a question. Announcers are just annoying. Refs impact the game.

cancel my last comment on Clausen.

I am done watching the game.

Well, JC got my memo about throwing the ball, he just neglected to read the AWAY part. Throw the ball AWAY.

Jimmy "Santa" Clausen.

this has been the most enjoyable game to date

So, he can't throw it away when he's outside the tackle box, but he throws it as he is horse collared. WTFO! Do we practice at all or do just sit around and play cards during the week. Jeebus save us!

YES 3rd string stanford qb

Brian Smith, also...3 more years.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with Lambert's tackle. The dumbass doesn't know how to slide and deserves the lesson he received.

Queue Mo Crum and 7 straight pass INTs.

Does Harbaugh have any eligibility remaining?

Dumbass or not intentional or not it was still a PF.

Which Harbaugh version?

Wait, they are putting a QB back into the game after they took his helmet away? WTF?

what a circus.. i hope my cable goes out so i dont have to watch this anymore

Are we punished by refs and replay officials because we don't belong to a conference?

Which one of the announcers is Pritchard's mom? Stop it already with the being "shocked!"

Take out the QBs, shades of UCLA game?

Was that not a hold on Brian Smith?

Typical Hollywood melodrama.

Let's root for the victims.

Also, did anybody know that Laws was a wrestler in high school?

Pritchard's head is okay. It's his neck that's gonna be screamin' tomorrow morning.

BTW, UCLA beat a knocked-around Oregon team 16-0 today.

ND > UCLA > Oregon > USC

Domerguy, I love your logic. I am going to use that at work on Monday.

Reno, are you serious? He wrestled in high school? Any chance that helped him become so strong with his hands?

this is the wierdest game I have ever witnessed

these guys beat usc? what is going on in college football this year?

good for 14!

bunch of friggin pussies this day and age.

concussion.

the medical staff didn't call it a concussion. Doctor? You think that one could be there to call it a concussion.

hope he comes back in the next series.

tough guys- Jim Duggan HhOO!

So, harbaugh was a QB when he played. You think he'd know...semi-concussed QB does not equal smart QB play. Get upset when he underthrows a screen pass. You're lucky your QB is still alive. Ms. Pritchard is going to kick your ass.

the year of the upsets baby

Wait, I thought Zibby wrestled and Laws boxed!!

screen right.. i am calling it now

Hey, any footage on Laws wrestling in high school?

damn, wrong

Lambert's hit was a PF but he appeared to have knocked the helmet off with his forearm, not his helmet.

Late post, but yeah that was clearly a hold before on smith

Can the announcers tell us if Brady Quinn wrestled or boxed?

charlie weis "calling plays is an art"

I'm tellin ya, Duval is a De Ville!

If Weis is still calling the plays, we should expect two straight FB dives with Schwapp coming up.

sooooo slow

Huuuuuuuuughes!!!

why do we run anyone but hughes?

Grimes did have a nice little Superman block on that play. Great technique.

Who's ready for the travis thomas show?

Love this kid.

ONLY HB WITH ANY VISION

About time, Hughes is a warrior.

Nah, Hughes was tired of padding TT's stats.

when do we get to start calling him robert HUGE?

touchdown!!!!hughes!!!!!

Come to think of it, Grimes' blocking technique was reminiscent of a wrestler defending against an attempted double-leg take down.

Hughes is Huge!

How is it that the two best plays of this game actually didn't happen?

Reno, any chance that Laws taught Grimes a few techniques in the offseason? What about Zibby, did he sit down with Clausen and work on his jab?

There is the kickoff coverage we've come to expect.

Sure glad Jack Arute is staying on top of the Pritchard Crisis for us.

kcatnd...you are so right.

Y'know, I think these guys are gay.

fundamentals are still not there.. so sad

Growing up I used to think that "Jackarute" was a nickname for some sideline reporter....like the mythical Jackalope from South Dakota/America's Funniest Home Videos fame.

hipdad, I agree. I keep picturing that SNL cartoon "The Ambiguously Gay Duo"!

You know, Charlie Weis was in Bengal Bouts. Quite a boxer. Still does it in the off-season.

Domer - Growing up? I only found out that Jack Arute was a real person last week. I'm so disappointed.

TL looked like the Godfather of Soul coming off the field there.

Please, Please, Please, Please.....

Brent Musburger used to throw it down to the field by saying something akin to, "Now down to the sideline with Jagaroo. Whatcha got, Jag?"

I think Laws hurt that ankle while wresting . . . he did wrestle, didn't he?

are we playing for overtime?

Yeah I always thought it was a nickname "jackaroo".

Voice - I think that is exactly what made me think that. As always, blame Musberger!

Laws was an Olympic gold medalist wrestler. Roman Greco.

Trevor...come on, this isn't wrestling. You don't want to lose a point for stalling.

Hey, isn't making a first down motion with your hand a 15 yard personal foul? I'm pretty sure Carlson had that called on him last week.

Thought it was Hiberno-Gaulic wrestiling.

Important situation, lets see what the refs have for us?

Whichever it is, do they wear singlets in the Olympics now, or do they still wrestle in the buff?

Maybe roughing the center?

Any other obscure calls you guys can think of to keep Stanford in this one despite our best efforts?

Nick - I was thinking of a double sideline warning.

Remember that dunking the center call a few years back?

Only if they get to review it. The refs on the field would just call offsetting penalties.

I think it'll be a joke pass interference call

yup, as bad as us

Reno, I fired you already. (heh heh)
They do indeed still wrestle nude in the Olympics. The Nude Olympics.

eorfjawe0oifjoawfj0awfjsc9owjed9iewjfcpofwjcwoviuj oaeivjoadsiuvj

Oh my God, this is going to end badly.

Let's send it to our friends in the replay booth.

Watch! They'll reverse it - tie game.

That's a catch. For sure.

Oh, it's a bench challenge, okay.

do I smell a reversal coming?

Random comment: I must say our guys have been hitting harder this game for once - al a corwin's driving philosophy

Remember that pro ref (Ben Dreith?) who once described over his mic that the penalty was because one player was "giving the other player the business." Hilarious!

Wow. I think they realized they couldn't be QUITE that blatant.

I agree with you, fighting. Finally finishing tackles, at least...better.

Unbelievable! No Flags!

For such a lousy game that was a helluva finish, gang

VitW - Giving the business? Like, a proposition? That's illegal? Just seems untimely.

If either of those Stanford receivers had the hands of a wrestler, I think it goes without saying that we'd be heading into OT.

Well, it's been quite a season guys. Thanks for being around for my ranting!

Oh dear God...its finally OVER!!!

three and nine and we own california

Wasn't pretty but just win baby! A win's a win's a win!

worst game ever played.

I'm late to the party here today and apologize for repeating sentiments already shared, but I have a very strong desire to strangle these two announcers. Thank you.

A win is definitely a win. Hard to believe that the season is over. How many days until the spring game?

my god that was an ugly, ugly game.

BUT A W!!!!!!!!!!

i can name 9 other games that were worse.

No, booth call -- penalty going to the locker rooms, award Stanford a TD, and time for OT.

But we didn't lose 10...thank God for minor blessings.

Harbaugh's an ASSHOLE. He walked right by Weis and never even shook hands. Go pout, you stinking asshole.

Booth replay on the leprachaun -- pass interference.

What to say to the Seniors? Hmmm. Let me think about that one.

I'm surprised they didn't fumble the snap. ND tried their damndest to lose this cripple fight, but some how won in spite of themselves. But for 2007 it's a great success and I'll take it.

It was all a bad dream...we can all wake up now and pretend this year was but a nightmare.

I miss it already.

What are you complaining about? Harbaugh already gave Charlie an early Xmas present with those two lame run calls from first and goal.

-- disgruntled Stanford alum.

Harbaugh did shake hands, but it was one of those Belicheck/Mangini handshakes where they obviously just want to get away from each other as quickly as possible.

Post season thought: Any chance Jimmy makes it to NYC and gets the first of his 4 Heismans?

i don't comment here often, but thanks to everyone for making me laugh when i wanted to cry.

They just showed a player with his parents, #61. He's J.J. Jensen, senior from Phoenix. Only player on the roster without a position, and he get's a half second on network TV. Good for him!

Harbaugh's STILL an asshole. A complete rectal orifice.

So the Kansas/Missouri winner loses to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship, and then all of a sudden the NC game is....

tOSU v. WVU

(me throwing up)

still glad LSU lost

HairBall doesn't understand that he just failed the first interview for the ND job, should it ever become vacant. He's really an idiot. Where did he not go to class? MEEESH-igan.

Meat-chicken

Hey, where's everybody going?

J.J. Jensen. #61. Player without a position. Maybe ESPN could do a real syruppy piece on him. "He goes out to practice every day. But when he gets there, he doesn't have a position coach, so he just hangs around. Always looking and waiting. Wondering, 'am I a kicker or a tackle?" LMAO!!!

Like every season, it's sad to know that we won't be seeing a bunch of these guys in the gold helmets anymore. Trevor Laws may have officially become my favorite cfb player of all time over the last 3+ months. I'm also a huge Carlson fan, and look forward to seeing both those guys play on Sundays next year. With any luck, they'll both be getting some national recognition for their accomplishments on the field this season, especially Laws. Both are All-Americans on my ballot.

The coaching staff has some work to do in the off season, and much self-evaluation is sure to be done. I'm sure (hopeful) that they'll be learning from the mistakes that have been made.

But for now, here's to a season that has mercifully come to an end.

See ya'll in the in the recruiting threads in coming weeks.

VitW...any chance that JJ just wrestles on the sidelines?

Does anyone know if the post-game presser is on over the net anywhere and/or does UND still do a post-game show for road games?

OT -- congrats to ND Women's Soccer. Beat North Carolina 3-2 at Chapel Hill to advance to the round of 8 in the NCAAs!

Great season for ND fans thanks to BGS.
Don't go anywhere boyz & girls, the off- season should be a lot of fun.
Thanks for all the laughs, wry comments, etc.

Voice,

" Giving him the business"... that call was made in a Redskins game way back when...I think the opponent was Dallas (hope it was)and I remember listening to the radio broadcast with Sonny Jurgensen & Sam Huff doing commentary on the Redskins home network. Huff was beside himself with the call saying something along the lines of " If they called that on every tackle I made we would have beeen penalized on every tackle I made!" Jurgensen, and probably 3/4 of the DC area, was laughing their a$$ off at Huff!! I loved it!!

triple win day for the irish--soccer, bb, fb!

I have never witnessed a worst all around game ever.

1. JC was just awful. You'd think Ron Powlus would tell him "Dude, you can throw it out of bounds. I did it all the time."

2. Sam Young. If he's a team leader next year we are truly boned. He was just terrible all season.

3. ^ goes for the entire O line as well.

4. a. HORRIBLE reffing! What the hell game were they watching? Penalty on Laws for personal foul?! He was taken to the ground with a facemask (no flag) and then he pushed the guy (rightly) in the head. Thats hardly a penalty!

b. Offsetting personal foul on JC after he was HEAD BUTTED?! WTF?!

c. That was an obvious touchdown by Grimes. Notre Dame should DEMAND an immediately apology from the Big East crew. Terrible.

5. Commentating. Nuff said. We all sat through that. And does Jack Arute have cancer or something? He looks terrible.

At least now that the season is over the executions at Notre Dame can begin. I nominate Latina and Mendoza for immediate executions as well as who ever the Special Teams coach is. We can't kick a field goal or cover a kick off to save our lives.

Also, Ron Powlus should be banned from Notre Dame campus for the remainder of his natural life.

Just googled "Ben Dreith" and the story is recounted in the Wikipedia entry of that name.

Day Break,
great stuff but it was the pac-10 crew in the booth -- big east guys are powerless to stop that.

Also, I think Arute has lost about 75 pounds but insisys on wearing his Rocco Mediate clothing line, complete with hair implants to complete the look.

DayBreakBoys, Nice work. If the firing squad is too draconian for Latina and Mendoza, I recommend that they be fitted with deer costumes and made to run thru the Northern Indiana woods on a Saturday in December. Maybe that bigass Mendoza could be issued a bear suit, instead, and he could wander around the University Park Mall parking lot until a County Smokey puts him down. As for Powlus, I suggest a hot air balloon might be used whereby Ron is sent adrift. If he's lucky he lands in Pennsylvania. If we're lucky it's into the chilly waters of Nova Scotia.

^ Alum Son

As I understand it it was Pac 10 refs on the field. Big East in the booth.

But I could easily be wrong. Swear thats what the commentators said though

Whoever the refs were, on the field, in the booth, whatever, they should be water boarded.

Anybody want to say anything about this quote?:
"Play calling is an art."
I'm just throwing it out there. Fresh meat.

Sort of like how Hitler was an artist?

VitW - I'll bite.

If play calling is an art, maybe we need to get this guy to critique CW's 2007 efforts.
http://www.thebestpageintheunive...t/c.cgi? u=irule

I nominate VTW for TIME'S blogger of the year!
Axe Polian, Jappy.

This is very reminiscent of the Pats-Colt game this yr where the refs tried to decide it but the better team overcame the odds.....Ok it's a pathetic imitation and I'm partly joking but still, it is

A perspective from PA:

After Penn State pounded ND, PSU fans thought they had a shot at the NC. At 8-4, they are now thankful they had Buffalo, Fla. International and Temple on their schedule and are again questioning the direction of their program under JoePa. In 2003, JoePa was 3-9.

Since i'm just too damn lazy to read all of the posts, I'll either be one of the first or not to call a flip for next year ... Regular season 9 - 3

It was Big East on the field, Pac 10 in the booth.

DayBreakBoys,
No, it was Big East on the field and Pac-10 in the booth. Think "Oklahoma-Oregon" game. Pac-10 refs, as a whole, are the least ethical in the game.

"Play calling is an art."

True. So is making album covers. And you can be good at it, or really bad at it:

http://www.zonicweb.net/badalbmcvrs/

I am glad we one and they all played well. However, Asaph Schwapp is the worst player to ever play FB at ND and he shouldn't be on a D1 roster anywhere. I have watched him for 3 years now and he misses blocks, pussyfoots, and fumbles. Off the top of my head I dont know if he is back next year but god I hope not.

excuse my mistakes I am a few Guinness deep

Philoctytes: LOL. AH did call some really bonehead plays.

Reno: That was totally uncalled for and disrespectful. But thanks for sharing, it was pretty funny.

whoa i watched the game from this exact angle

About the Ben Drief guy.

Years ago I tried desperately to get my wife interested in football, the theory being that if she understood it, she'd get off my ass for watching it.

So, we're watching the Sunday game and old Ben announces a penalty for "giving the guy the business down there...." She got up and walked out of the room, never to watch football again, and she STILL gets on my ass about it.

Did anyone see Ron Cherry give a call this weekend in the Maryland-NC State game where he said someone was given the business?

There is a video on EDSBS.com

9-3 next year? What kind of crackpot prediction is that? 6-6 would be great. And the calls for 9-3 next year and NC in '09? Only if ND goes I-AA or Div. II, which might not be that bad if you think about it. ND would keep the tv contract AND compete for a NC. Think about it.

How bizarre that on the only day in 20 years that I have even thought about Ben Dreith's classic call, another ref, Ron Cherry, does the same exact thing. Big thanks to Jason for steering me to the link at edsbs.com!!

Who waters the field before a game? I guess the geniuses at Stanford do.

I find the topic of Charlie going back to talk to New England to figure out what went wrong with this season as scary - I thought Charlie knew what was wrong and was going to fix it. I didn't know that he didn't even know what the problem was! How does he not know what he did wrong? I think next year might be Charlie's last.
