Cuyahoga. Great song. Great album.

I think the more appropriate question is What if Jim Sanson could kick?

What if the refs got it right and swallowed their whistles instead of calling that phantom clip, negating Rocket's famous kickoff touchdown return at the end of the game?

Completely off-topic, but I had to share this. I had met a few friends at a restaurant in Chicago when I noticed some sort of sports show on the big screen. Eventually I start neglecting the conversation to watch b/c it's "the 50 most devastating hits" from that "Best Damned Sports" show and I can't help but watch all the ridiculous tackles. All of the sudden #6 pops up and it's Corwin Brown obliterating Keyshawn Johnson during an attempted catch, knocking off his helmet (think it's made at least 1 bgs post). I gave a "yeah" and pumped my fist in the air, turned to my (current ND student) friends and said, simply: "that's our new defensive coordinator."

Maybe that show is old news and I'm slow to see it, but man, that made my day.

What if Frank Leahy had stayed for another five (5) (10) years. He also was a relatively young coach when he retired. 50 or so.
What happens if Cotton Spryer doesn't make the circus catch in the '70 Cotton Bowl for UTexas.

On a lighter note, what if my Aunt had ball$, she'd be my Uncle.

I'm in agreement with Jake regarding Sanson. I'm still not sure WHICH extra point you're talking about. I can think of multiple.

What if Jerome Bettis had stayed in school?

What if the 'Rocket' had stayed in school?

My favorite is, "What if Pete Bercich makes the interception?"

That game ruined my childhood...

Here's a good one: What if Mark May had been accepted into Notre Dame?

These posts were excellent. I really enjoyed reading these over the last several days and thinking what if? The one that really intrigued me is "What if O'Leary hadn't lied on his resume?" I wonder where the program would be right now.

Yeah, what if Bettis and Tom Carter had hung around for '93? We certainly could have used them against... I won't even mention them.

I think maybe the USC game in 1996 might be the extra point in question. If not, I'm just ignorant.

Continuing with my ignorance: which game involved Devon McDonald not falling on the footbaw?

I have always argued with fellow fans that if Moss had indeed gone to ND, the Irish would've won a national title at least in one of the '95 or '96 seasons. Imagine if he was opposite of Mayes? The whole problem with that team was teams loading up on the run and doubling Mayes. With Moss out there, ND could've scored enough points to offset the defensive liabilities

Moss would have been kicked out at some point...

Can't think of a player I rather see CW smash except maybe TO.

Sorry

I meant CB. I would be interesting to see CW play though.

I don't even want to think about Brady Quinn playing for the skunkbears. Who would we have had instead? Carlyle Holiday would have had to keep playing QB, and that wasn't going very far as it was.

Brady Quinn would be far less hated and far less famous. Getting drafted #22 would be a dream come true.
