Not sure it would be a miracle, Jay. If they want it bad enough, they can have it. I'm with you though. I want this monkey off our collective backs.
Also, a bowl game is added playing time. The one thing this team needs is more experience. But win or lose, the future direction is set. The bigg news will be a new OC and possibly a line coach. We'll be going for months on that one!
Merry Christmas folks!!! JP | Email | Homepage | 12.24.08 - 2:09 pm | #

I'd love to see the bowl loss streak snapped tonight...
But to me, it'll be more like a Festivus miracle. If we lose, prepare for the airing of grievances!! Irish_Angst | Email | Homepage | 12.24.08 - 2:25 pm | #

Playing on Christmas day sucks more than playing on the eve. Still, I enjoyed the Sun Bowl for years in the back TV room of the relatives. 08 | Email | Homepage | 12.24.08 - 3:55 pm | #

At 10:30 EST tonight, I will be in church singing the first movement of Vivaldi's "Gloria." And as I sing the first few Glooo rya, Glooo rya, I'll be hoping that it is a salute to those Irish brothers who will be in the last throes of thrashing the Rainbows. I won't see anything past 9:20! Diesel,
I don't think that would go over well in the choir, but thanks anyway! I'll just leave my browser set to the si.com real-time update, and that will be the first thing I'll see as I come home. ND67Aquajock | Email | Homepage | 12.24.08 - 5:21 pm | #

Were it not for the extra 15 practices, many might eschew the lower paying bowls. It is likely that ND lost a bit of money going to this bowl. But, we accepted the Hawaii Bowl bid for the extra 15 practices and, in addition, we are likely turning it into the most expensive recruiting trip in history.
Those teams that were not good enough to receive Bowl bids (just under half of the 119 D-1 teams) are exactly the ones that absolutely need the added 15 practices, yet they are denied. The NCAA should just open it up for 15 days of post-season practice for whomever wants to avail themselves of the opportunity. That way it isn't just the rich that get richer.
