someone make a tape of Jacquizz Rodgers of Oregon State, and send it to Armando Allen.

No kidding, NDcivil03.

I think the REAL tOSU just stood up.

As much as I can't stand ESPN, I tip my hat to them for the "Beavers trap Trojans" headline.

tOSU and USC are out of the National Title hunt?

Well...Um. No one left to hate! Go....Sooners?

i think we can still hate espn for having jesse "pepper brooks" palmer doing the thursday night games. i liked him better when he was doing the color commentary for dodgeball on espn8, the ocho.

Thanks for the nod.

Sadly, it was actually much easier to make a better show after a loss because if gave us that much more reason to get drunk.

I'll be at the Purdue game, so I'll try to remember to send you photos of the kickoff.

Wow. Can't believe USC lost to OSU. Talk about a relapse in focus, especially after beating tOSU.

Don't underestimate the power of the lowercase 't'.

And also, please don't praise ESPN for a trojan/beaver headline. No one in the world didn't make that same joke, except no one else got paid for it.

Wow. I have never been so pleased to be proven wrong - U$C - beatable. I absolutely will relish reading the LA Times tomorrow. Props to Oregon State for being fired up and playing smashmouth football.

If the OSU OL, which has overall looked very week this year, can suddenly pull it together and dominate the USC defensive line, generally one of the best in college football (and to the tune of 180+ yds), I think it gives me hope that our guys can pull it together and get one of our backs their first 100 yd. game this season.

Note: not a prediction, or a guarantee, just an observation that it IS possible, once everything clicks, for a lackluster looking line to pull it together and play some smashmouth football.

no worries, there is still UF to hate... my roommate is an SC grad, and its her birthday tomorrow, so i was slightly sad. Basically, it just meant more money had to be spent so she would sing at karaoke.

But in terms of title hunt, I will always hate UF regardless. Give me a ton more of running backs with crazy names--bring on the Knowshon! where is Jaquizz?!?--and give it hard to the chinless wonder.

Oh, and i can always hope that boise state some how squeaks back into a BCS bowl.

Looks like if you get any pressure any Sanchez, he cAves. That's the film the Irish should be studying.

I think it's worth all of us giving props to Richard Jackson. How many college football players would show that kind of maturity and feel that kind of responsibility? I know that I've seen plenty of stories that followed the opposite path.

Best of luck to him going forward.

Yeah, I second the tip-of-the-hat to Jackson. Sure wanted him to see the field some, & was sorry to see him go, but if a guy has to leave, it's great to hear that he's doing so for the right reasons - namely, family. I didn't even know the guy had a child back home. Reminds me a bit of Travis Leitko taking time off a couple years back to take care of his sick parents. Ironic how, by leaving the program, a guy can actually show just how much (to me, at least) he has what it takes to be an ND man. After reading that, I can't help but still consider Jackson to be one of our own.

Good luck to you, RJ! You're always welcome under the dome.

Any guess as to why Firefox 2 (can't update to 3 b/c of a web program needed for work that doesn't work on 3) on a mac isn't showing the picture of the Lou statue (or the embedded video, if there is one)? I didn't see the mood ring picture yesterday either, but I see it now. Thoughts?

Mark, geez, i'm still wondering why we can't run the ball.

Gabby, I was moving on to simpler questions. Why we can't run the ball (and an Oregon St Frosh can - apparently they do zone blocking too - it must not be that difficult to execute) is just too much for a Friday morning. I can see the picture now. Not sure what the issue was, but apparently it is fixed. The missing picture issue, that is.

...said for the last year that our stable of running back's speed and quickness was highly suspect...anyone watching last night's SC-OSU game saw what quick/fast tailback can do to a very good defense...that and the OSU coaching/motivation was suburb...somethings missing in South Bend...and I don't believe it's only the offensive line...

Quizz was tough to tackle. That's something Armando hasn't shown to be. He's fast, but he needs to be shifty and hit those tiny little creases like Quizz did last night.

glad you liked the mspaint blog pat. haven't quite found the inspiration yet for the next piece but hopefully tomorrow will be motivating.

j...r...b... is back... hating... fire Charlie... hire?

A defense that lost their entire starting front seven from last year. BeachTrojan, a USC alum (or fan?) who is a regular excellent poster on NDNation, stated that he saw this coming after last year's USC loss to Stanford. He thinks that USC will lose 2-3 more games in the Pac 10.

...well then!...maybe the Oregon State tailbacks aren't faster/quicker than the ND equivalent...must be my "lying eyes"...thanks, BeachTrojan...

I'm pretty sure it was Oregon State that lost their defensive front seven from last year.

Sorry in advance if this posts twice, I think it has something to do with blocking content here at work.

Fr. Lange's Gym is a great website. Thanks for the link.

One of the articles mentions a ND student (and one of Father Lange's Boys) named Mike Burgener. Mike is a sernior international USA Weightlifting coach and runs a USA Weightlifting regional training center in CA. His kids have all successfully competed at the national and international level, and his son Casey was on the US Olympic Team this year (until politics forced him off). Mike has often cites Fr. Lange as a big influence on his life and his path to becoming the US's guru of Olympic Lifting. His site is http://mikesgym.org if anyone is interested.

Anybody know the radio station in Indianapolis? Maybe I just missed it on the list. I always try to watch the games, but sometimes I can't. Thanks.
