That is more excitement than the team has shown since the 05 SC game. Hope it lasts... and translates to some ass-kicking attitude and play on game day.

Youse guyz are de greatest.

Stewart really does look great. I had an eye on him during the open practice on Sunday and he was just throwing kids around left and right. I am looking for big things from this kid over the next few years (he still has 3 years of elligibility).

Also, Mr. Plow (as I have called him faithfully for the past few years) is by far the greatest nickname any ND player has had in a long, long time.

Not to take a dump in everyone's Cheerios, but did the video make you feel better about our OL or worse about our DL?

Well, at least they're hitting, which is an improvement over last year.

Watching Kamara run around wearing number 60 is freakin' hilarious.

Svelt. Can't wait to see him plowing the way for our RBs into the endzone.

It's hard to believe, but Sam Young makes Mr. Plow look tiny now. He is a man among boys, so he better play like it this year. The right side of our line can be Irish Construction Company, grating roads and paving lanes.

I love hearing Tenuta's groveling voice in the backround. Our D is gonna be pretty sick this year.

"Hughes over right tackle . . ."

Has a nice ring to it, eh?

Surreal moment: a few seconds after Mr. Plow folds, spindles and mutilates Mr. Smith, did anyone notice a tree moving across the frame in the background.
I swear I haven't been drinking at work.

I saw it too, but I'm starting to huff the cushion. Go Irish!

Along with Kool Aid, I nominate any reference to Cheerios as a cliche to be dumped from this site.

Anyways, Go Irish!

The anxiety/excitement level has reached epic proportions. Will they be good, average, gouge-your-eyes-out horrible like last year?!... No idea. The waiting truly is the hardest part.

the cushion is starting smell better every day!

Come Sunday 9/14, let's hope our cushion-huffs elicit the pungent-yet-satisfying scent of broasted skunkbear.

I gotta say, I am really, really creeped out by the 'huff the cushion' phrase. Everytime I think about it I gag a little bit in my mouth.

I was watching the goal line drills and they were showing alot emotion. It was great to see that.

It's just like airplane glue, Brad. Once you get past the feeling of acute nausea, a stupefying euphoria sets in. Pushups are really hard though.

Huffing cushions, crabcakes in Voice's shorts... I love this place.

After last year..I wait my breath. Did we throw any pass at all during the scrimmage?

What's with the "Dahx...owned once again!" on the PU vs. ND ticket? I assume that's a post-print photoshop job?

JT - I think Trace has been sending messages to one of his buddies. Each year he does it and each year I forget about it until someone points it out.

I like the Simpsons reference in the title...thanks for the laugh.

Great vids. I just realized that, when speaking outdoors to the team, Charlie's voice has a bit of a John C. Reilly character.

I wonder if John C. Reilly likes ND? We know where Will Ferrel's loyalty lies.

my favorite part is when the rb fumbles and the defense goes nuts....about the 2:10 mark

You guys are nuts, that Irish Eyes video is depressing. Our d-line is horrible! They can't shed a blocker and make a tackle to save their lives, they are constantly driven backwards on their heels, allowing the RB to skate past without a hand laid on them, and they can't hold the line at all. Our o-line looks bad too, but with a few bright spots like Stewart and the TE's. I am really not impressed at all with our D-line or linebackers. The only guys I really saw able to shed a block and make a tackle were Ethan Johnson and Kerry Neal. Brian Smith was driven 5 yards back from the LOS, and he's going to be our Mike LB? The one with the most responsibility on run support that is supposed to be able to move sideline to sideline, and he can't even get off a block to make a head's up tackle. I am hoping the breaks go our way and we get a 7-5 record, but 5-7 is pretty likely too right now.

I posted this on the above post, and I'm posting it here as well.

Thats it! I've had enough with the Negative Nancies on this board!

C'mon guys! This is the time of the year where we are supposed to get excited! We shouldn't be 'tempering expectations'. We should be blowing them up! I'm sick of this negativity. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no. Did MacArthur give up when he was forced to retreat from Spain? No f***in' way!

This is part of being a fan. Its that little voice in your head that was saying 'wait til next year' during every game that we got stomped last year. These are good things, and don't deny yourselves them!

You think we were hurt and disappointed last year? You think it was tough for us? What about the boys strappin' the gold helmets on? They've been bustin' their asses all through the winter and spring and summer to get better, to come out and prove everyone wrong and to dust the shame off those helmets. Damn straight we are gonna be better! And they've been bustin' their asses not just for themselves, but for us, they fans in the stands.

We're bigger, we're faster, we're stronger, and we're hungrier. And we are gonna see a damn fine football team this fall, and I for one am as excited as all get out!

Now is the time for excitement. Now is the time for hope. So get your asses excited, and get yourself pumped up, and tell anyone in your office who will listen to watch out for your Irish this year. Say it loudly, and proudly, and most importantly, say it confidently, and buy into the hype while you can.

You won't find a Negative Nancy oir a Debby Downer in my posts. Hope springs eternal right now. Football season is right around the bend. Damn straight I'm excited.

You can be excited all you want, but the tape doesn't lie. Our defensive front seven look awful right now. I hope they were just having a bad day or the o-line is really that good at moving people around, but when the majority of those Irish Eyes drills ended with the running back freely running past the defender that was blocked out of the play or, even worse, knocked on his ass, that is a major concern for anyone that claims to be a fan. I don't think being legitimately concerned with the play of the d-line and linebackers is being negative. Nearly every drill ended up with them getting destroyed by an o-lineman. Not good when we are facing teams that will rely heavily on the run to beat us if they are breaking in a new QB. I want the Irish to be 12-0 as much as the next fan, but a d-line on skates isn't going to get the job done.

Have to agree. If you do not get pumped watching these drills you are probably dead. I also have to agree that there seems to be something missing with regards to Sam Young. I think his performance this year is one of the 3 keys to the Irish season. He has all the tools but something is missing on the field that I can see in these practices. Also who would not want tenuta as a coach? This guys emotion gets me pumped.

Good grief. One freakin' drill the second day of pads isn't sufficient basis for us to celebrate or despair.

I swear sometimes I think we need lithium, as manic-depressive as we are as fans.

I'm with Brad!! We should be pretty juiced about the upcoming season.

You know what this video gives each and every one of us? It gives us all a chance to coach, to talk about what we like and dislike. It gives us an opportunity to debate on what it is that makes this team different that last year or what the team needs. I love being able to see these videos and critique whatever it is I think I see because I know that on game day, I'm yelling at the top of my lungs the things that I can see that nobody else can and all the things I would do differently because on each and every Saturday, I know more than the coaches! Keep on keepin' on!

Steve Quinn's still around, eh?
Remember when he blocked the punt at USC in 2006 when the Irish were still in the game?
The announcer said "Quinn's just made a great play, but his first name's not Brady."
