I don't know where to start on placing the responsibilities for the last 5 game debacle...but you could easily start with cornerback starters Wooden and Lambert. They should be playing Div. 2 ball. |

I honestly think Kevin White is to blame. He should have been fired YEARS ago. I still think its FAR too early to blame Weis for any of this. Our plays might develop if the Oline could hold for 3 seconds. |

the blame on Willingham has got to stop, regardless of the caliber of talent a particular player Weis was left with - he was dubbed as a coaching mastermind when he was brought in and he has not coached up to that tag. |

Shadow - for one, "business as usual" is obviously very, very bad business. We are clearly not performing at a minimal standard, that is, doing the basic fundamentals of playing football. That is due to indequate, or poor, coaching. we have a need to upgrade our coaching far moreso than our talent. The horrible performance of our offense indicates poor planning, strategizing, and too many other areas to list here. |

This is reminiscent of Faust, Davie, Ty, and I suspect those teams of the 50's. This too shall pass, but it'll pass a lot sooner if these players don't feel abandoned by ND fan nation, and if there is a continued infusion of talent to build the base, increase the depth, and improve the competition for playing time. That infusion would seem less likely if this type of on-line commentary becomes widely read by expected recruits. What would you think were you in their positions? Charlie's got a tough road ahead. Clearly the OL is the biggest problem, and there's no quick fix for that; and its poor performance reverberates throughout each game, worsening problems for the rest of the offense and then also the defense. Special tems today were actually fair good; punting, coverage and returns. With some success, when it comes, confidence will build, and then more success will become more likely. Would anyone really want Ty or Davie to be in the HC spot? This is Notre Dame, and we don't quit. Those players out there today did not quit. Yes, they were overwhelmed by their own mistakes, and greater experience and talent and a rabid home field crowd starving for good play from their own team, heightened by the fact it was ND they were beating. None of that equals our giving up on these kids. "Drinking kool-aid" is NOT what we need, but neither is denigrating ND football. By doing so, we lessen ourselves. Pull together, ND nation. Brighter days ARE coming. |

A big positive is the talent we have been able to recruit. CW is outstanding in that area. Coaching it is another story. Bob Davie recruited something like 19 top-100 kids over two years, but couldn't coach them up. We are seeing too much of the same. If Ty left the cupboard bare, we had years to adjust our personnel. We obviously didn't. That problem was apparent with lasy year's team, a squad that regressed from the superb '05 team. |

Geez, I can't believe how many of you turn out to be fair-weather fans. I can see if this was the last game of the year and we ended up 2-10. This is as much a test for true Irish fans. I for one will simply look at this as an off-season, but certainly don't think it's time to change the HC. |

If anything (and I know I'm echoing some previous sentiments voiced here), some of these comments are hilarious - if you're looking for tip-top gallows humor, check out an ND board during the worst stretch of ND football in memory. I was reading aloud a good number of these to my wife after the game - just great stuff. |

The "debate" on Willingham vs. Weis is not even close...follow the recruiting...follow the recruiting. While Weis is playing Willingham's 5th year seniors, seniors and juniors...Willingham is playing (besides an excellent true freshman QB Locker) previous coach Gilbertson's 5th year seniors, seniors and juniors. In three years at ND Weis has recruited 18 Top 100 HS players (Rivals.com). In three years at UW Willingham has recruited 1 Top 100 HS player (Locker). And to add insult to injury...in three years at ND...Willingham recruited 3 Top 100 players... none in the year he was fired. |

OK, OK. No more cheap shots. In all honesty, I actually sympathize with you guys. You guys have been dealing with this sh*t for a decade now....Us UM fans start crying after a few seasons of mediocrity. In truth, I hope ND turns it around. College football is better when ND doesnt completely suck. |
