I read the article before looking here at BGS and you are absolutely right, a fantastic article about CB. Can't wait for Saturday to see how the D plays out against Tech!!

Go Irish!!

Wow! We clearly got the right guy . . .

I read the article prior as well.

Wow. If Notre Dame does not have the right defensive coordinator (coach) at the right time, it never will.

I suspect Mr. Hand and Coach Brown had an interesting set of conversations over the past couple weeks. Ouch.

I hope the defense is so nasty that Corso, May, Mandel, and the other cheap-shot writers and commentators start picking on Notre Dame's defense.

Then I'll know it has arrived.

I'm just glad to hear that we have, by all accounts, a very "real" coaching staff.

What you see is what you get, and that transparency is very refreshing. Sure, it may rub some people the wrong way, but it's a breath of fresh air after trying to translate the obtuse haikus of Willingham and the false sincerity of BD.

Not only is this a great coaching staff, it may well turn out to be the one by which all future teams are judged. Enjoy it, Irish fans. Even the most storied programs sometimes get lucky - and that's what we are right now - lucky to have these guys. Charlie Weis' impact on the program, by the time it's all said and done, will be very, very difficult to measure and impossible to exceed in my opinion.

I don't mean that to take away from Corwin Brown at all.

Fantastic article. Corwin Brown is the right guy at the right time for ND. I am happy to have him. Now if only all articles in the South Bend Tribune could be so well thought out and well written.

This guy can relate to recruits as well as anyone in the country - regardless of race, location, or upbringing.

Wow, what a leader and a role model for the Irish.

Corwin sounds like a great man. I'm proud to have him at ND. And I hope his defenses play well too.

Good luck, CB!

Great article. Now I am ready for the defense to "crack some heads" come Saturday. I assume I am not alone wanting to see the first big hit Zibby or one of our defensive backs put on a RB or WR? Not that Corwin was a headhunter in his day, but from what I remember he could definitely put a lick on someone. Man, I get all excited and goosepimply just thinking about Saturday......GO IRISH!!!

After reading this, you have to believe our defensive guys would run through a wall for this guy. I don't expect "tempo" or "energy" to be problems on defense. Dare I hope for "intimidating" defense?

fantasic is right... great rec. Thanks guys!

Best two quotes in the article:

"Football is football. Cover 2 is Cover 2. But there's a certain way I want my guys to play when the ball is snapped. There's a certain way I want my guys to run to the ball. It's all about mindset. . ."

"What I need is for people around me to be happy. I need to feel like I'm making a difference in people's lives. That's who I am."

I am tired of pundits and coaches acting as though you can either have talent or character (i.e., FSU v. Molder of Men).

To me, ND stands for both, and I for one am proud to have Corwin representing ND now.

Great read and really a guy one can and should pull for (we'll give him a mulligan for that 4-year trip to AA).

I think we could see a DEFENSIVE shock on 9/1/07, the way we saw an OFFENSIVE shock in CW's first game back @ Pitt in '05. At least I'm hoping for it.

Something special is brewing in SB, dude.

That was a great article...
Reminds me of the quote
"Our DC could beat up your DC"

I hope ND gets some kind of contractual lock on CB like he mentions. If our defense plays off the chains this year, we're going to have quite a few teams wanting to lure him away.
