Looking through the wrong end of the telescope, as is my want, it's gives me perspective to realize that some kid named Swarbrick started at ND the September after I left, a kid still.

Now he's the AD.

It's a wonderful world.

Congrats all around.

I remember the opening game in the Hoosier Dome too. The opening kickoff was fuimbled by a freshman kick returner and led to a PU touchdown. I was bittrly upset that te opening kickoff would be handled by a freshman.

It was somebody named Tim Brown, and I admit he did go on to have a pretty good career.

Still would have been nice if he hadn't fumbled that opening kickoff, though, huh?

Wow. I'm pumped!!!

Everyone who cares enough about ND football to follow blogs like this regularly needs to go watch the press conference, as soon as you can -- at least the first part of Swarbrick's segment. This guy gets it, no doubt. Very refreshing after so many years of Davie, Willingham, and White. This is a great hire.

nice gretchen wilson reference

With a leader like Jack Swarbrick, ND should be on the cutting edge of everything in collegiate athletics. The contacts he has with the NCAA should be most helpful.

Am I correct that he graduated one year ahead of Charlie Weis?

Though people often point out that introductory press conferences are just dreams and open promises, with some people you can tell they have the leadership skills to make it happen.

Watching Barry Alvarez when Wisconsin introduced him is an example of that. Especially for those who have met the man in person.

From all accounts, and from the press conference he gave, Jack is the same way. He'll get it done.

Cheer, cheer . . .

Can we not play Washington State in Texas or whatever. Do we still have to do weird stuff like that for no reason?

"The inconvenience of some posting on a blog you might not prefer to have is a much better situation than being at a school where nobody cares and nobody talks about you and nobody writes about you. I see the passion here as only a plus and I'm fully prepared to engage it."

Jay - see if you can get a BGS exclusive interview with Jack - he wants to "engage" with the likes of you - see if he can hook you up with tickets while you're about it :)

Ty Griffin is the name you're looking for, Dylan. Here is the reference.
