Good pics, thanks RocketShark.

On another note, boy does J Van's "Eyes Wide Shut" piece really temper my expectations this year. I'm really glad he wrote it, as I was starting to baby-sip the Kool Aid and just slapped myself back to reality.

Is there a reason that the ND Nation "News and Views from the Boards Ops" section is aping BGS' look and feel? Unless the two sites are cooperating, that's pretty sleazy.

That story link is here.

Hal - not sleazy, they both use the same blog hosting site. The format is the same for all blogs on the blog host site.

I stated it on the previous post, and will state it briefly again on this one (if you want to see my observations from yesterday's practice just look at the previous post).

The one thing that really, really suprised me was the way Montana was throwing the ball around. Great spiral, and very, very accurate for a freshman. This is really great for us, I think, because even though the kid may never play, in my opinion, we have four legitimate QBs on our team right now, and there is no pressure for us to go out and recruit a QB for at least a year or two (if we redshirt Montana and/or Crist).

P.S. While I was on the same topic, Montana is far taller than advertised. He looked a good inch taller than Crist to me and those I was speaking with in the stands. He has to be somewhere between 6'5-6'6 from the comparisons I was making visually when he was standing up by Crist and Clausen.

DblDomer,

Understood, but Blogger lets you choose your template and color schemes. I don't think the resemblance is an accident or coincidence, though who knows?

Either way, this is not the most important matter in the world. Just thought it was a bit strange. And all of these guys work hard enough at their blogging that it'd be a shame if someone were trying to ride on their coattails.

I just read the 'eyes wide shut' blog noted above. whoa! talk about seeing black at every possible turn. look, i agree it's sensible to not overload on the kool-aid. and i get it that there are still big question marks (sepacially at O-line) going into 2008. but it's obvious that wide shut author was playing devil's advocate (in aticipation of a rebuttal tmrw).

here's me jinxing things: i can't see the irish losing more than 4 this year (hopefully it's 2 or 3) with the softer schedule, number of returning starters (unproven or otherwise) and usual mix of coaching changes/5* recruits/blind luck.

If Sepacially isn't a word, it damn well should be. I am gonna start saying it in any and every context I can, and look down upon people with mild arrogance and disgust when they ask me what is means.

my bad.

Is there any phrase more tired than, "driking the kool aid"? Didn't that phrase "jump the shark' back in '07?

I don't know why you're so excited about Montana. It's not like somebody 3rd or 4th on the depth chart has a chance of ever playing, let alone leading a come from behind victory in the Cotton Bowl and going on to become the best clutch QB in NFL history.

'Jump the shark' nuked the fridge

Good point Anonymous, we should start taking suggestions on "Drink The Kood-Aid" replacement phrases, as I would agree that it has certainly jumped the shark. Hmmmm...

"Believing Latina's Scheme"

"Whiffing The Schwapp"

"Huffing Charlie's Seat Cushion"

Nice work Tony S.

I hereby nominate "Huffing Charlie's Seat Cushion" to replace "Drinking the Kool Aid" in all future web-based ND chatter.

Nicely done, IndyTom....nicely done.

And for clarifications purposes, I don't mean to sound too excited about the kid. Its not so much excitement as suprise, I suppose, on my part.

But well done.

Here's some of the pictures that I took.
