Anyone on the team that can kick field goals? |
Maybe next time SC comes to town, we ditch the grass-growing routine, cover the field with a sheet of ice, and send our hockey team out on defense instead... |
I have been watching ND hockey for the past three years now as a grad student and am immensely proud of our boys. |
"First frozen four in school history" ? |
Never mind, I'm an idiot |
Its been a great winter season for ND! Both baketball teams did great Muffet's mauler's are still going on, good luck ladies. The best part about it is we are taking on Michigan I hate michigan every thing about them stinks so LETS GO IRISH and kick the crap out of the little boy blue. |
Im glad Hockey is doing good. |
why do people call hockey players icers? the observer always did that and i never understood it |
It's the equivalent of "cagers" or "hoopsters" for basketball ... it's a single word instead of "hockey/basketball players" or "the hockey/basketball team". You see it used even more often here because of the assonance/vowel alliteration in "Irish Icers" |
I've always liked the old, classic term "gridders" for football players. |
If you want to see old time hockey in HD, check out "The Rocket" |
yeah, well i've always understood why they use it. i think if i hadn't grown up 10 minutes from canada and was a hockey novice, I'd probably have no opinion on it. but going to nd after watching hockey for 18 years and all of a sudden hearing this random word "icers"...it just struck me as strange. |
In this case I was strictly going for alliteration Matt. No other real reason. |
Voice, |

Leatherheads were still playing in the 50's plus all the interhall teams wore old varsity leather helmets and no face mask.....we were very tough then |
