Great post as usual.

All I have to say is wow! You go back and read those roundtable discussions from 2005, and you see just how far our recruiting has come under Charlie. It really makes you appreciate just how good it has become - no offense to Mr. Washington, but Houston and Baylor passed on him and he was offered by only ND and Wisconsin? I would say these days Houston or Baylor would take any and all of the players in our last 3 classes. And I don't see us battling for too many guys that don't have USC, Florida, Ohio State or Michigan (or all 4) in their offer list.

That is quite a turnaround by Charlie and the staff! And since I'm one of those who ascribe to the "recruiting is more than half the battle in College Football" belief, I have to give Charlie some mega props for turning the team around, at least in the recruiting department. Yes, the jury is still out on whether he can fully develop those guys, but I'm waiting until next year is over to hand in my verdict - by that time he will have all 4 classes of recruits that he recruited.

damn it...how do i delete my first comment? "lets go boilermakers" ...my real name is showing! for some reason my comp automatically displays it without my notice

I hope we put syracuse away early so all the seniors will get there time in the limelight....nice piece about how hard all of them have worked for little reward. Go Irish!

Then, again, our military training is in many respects superior to that of our adversaries. Our city is thrown open to the world, though and we never expel a foreigner and prevent him from seeing or learning anything of which the secret if revealed to an enemy might profit him. We rely not upon management or trickery, but upon our own hearts and hands. And in the matter of education, whereas they from early youth are always undergoing laborious exercises which are to make them brave, we live at ease, and yet are equally ready to face the perils which they face. And here is the proof: The Lacedaemonians come into Athenian territory not by themselves, but with their whole confederacy following; we go alone into a neighbor's country; and although our opponents are fighting for their homes and we on a foreign soil, we have seldom any difficulty in overcoming them...

Yes, I am looking ahead to next week a bit.

Thank you, Seniors.

Go Irish!
Don't lose to the 'Cuse.

KB - "recruiting is more than half the battle in College Football"

Weis must see it as about 98% of the battle. *zing*

Sorry, had to say it. Congrats to the seniors, and I'm hoping we take Syracuse behind the shed this afternoon and they leave the stadium wondering why they even bothered to make the trip.

Great picture Pat.

One of my favorite things about Notre Dame football is the relationship between the players and the general student body. I've only attended one home game in my life, opening game in 2003 when a young freshmen QB name of Quinn made his first appearance on the field. Two memories I always recall from that weekend are the pep rally on Friday night and the football team saluting the student body after they defeated Washington St. in OT.

Go Irish!!

Love the title of this article, too. You should work in advertising.

Actually, the number of quality article posts in the last week has been very impressive. Not so impressive? The last two minutes of the Navy game.

On we go.

Anyone got an online game feed?

this game feels like the navy overtime session of last year argh

I don't care how well Weiss recruited, he stinks, he and his whole staff should be fired today, losing to Syracuse is the worse thing that could hae happened to Notre Dame, this is an embarrassment!!!!
