Horrible, horrible news. It was bad enough hearing yesterday that he died, but finding out today the circumstances...horrifying. |
Peace be with the whole Hughes family. |
Awful. |
I feel for the entire Hughes family. Best of wishes to them in this difficult time. |
Come, Holy Spirit. |
May Earl's soul, and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen! |
I'm praying to our Mother for both Earl and Robert and the entire Hughes family. |
Events like this certainly put football in perspective. Peace to the entire family during this incredibly tragic time in their lives. |
Such a terrible tragedy for such a young man to endure. May God take care of Robert and the entire Hughes family during this awful time. Our thoughts and prayers are with him. |
Mr. Hughes, |
May God comfort him and his family. So sad. Unfortunately I know how he feels, I lost a brother while I was a freshman at Notre Dame as well. I'm confident the ND family will surround him with love and support. |
As others said above, 1-7 suddenly doesn't seem so bad. RIP. |
So sorry to hear of this. May God provide comfort and solace to Robert and his family during this tragic time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. |
May the Sacred Heart of Jesus embrace the Hughes family and comfort them at their time of need. |
How terrible for Robert and his family. I pray to God that they will be comforted in this time of sorrows. |
God bless Robert and his family. |
There's an AP article today (Weds.) that says he was back at ND practicing with the team, and Weis is going to drive him to Chicago on Thursday to be with his family. The whole team hopes to make it to the funeral on Friday, and Hughes does plan to play against Navy. |
Is anyone setting up a memorial site for Earl Hughes, or a place to share our sympathies with Robert? None of us know him personally but all of us are interested in giving our condolences. |
If Robert did want to play on Sat., if I were CW, I would give him plenty of playing time. He would have so much passion to play and emulate his brother, he would be extremely hard to stop. |
