Mike Anello is such a man-beast. Can we just put him in as QB and have him bowl people over with his manliness?

I can't believe the season is already half over. How depressing.

Has anyone else pointed out how abysmal our defense played last week?

I feel like I am the only one who is screaming about how pathetic it was.

Dumb me. When we hobbled Brandon Tate, I thought I heard the fat lady singing.

If the stadium was on fire and Michael Eisner himself put out flames, brought in another #1 recruiting class, helped CW drop a hundred and shored up the economy through health care reform and bipartisan expansion of the MLS... I still wouldn't thank ABC/ESPN.

Bunch of who ha's I tell you!

The first comment by "Anon" is a real cheap shot at JC. It is absurdly shortsighted as is the person who authored the post.

JC is a fine QB and will be mentioned in the Heisman competition in each of the next two years. Is there a better sophomore QB in the country?

Though I believe the defense plays well, I love the spirit with which Anello plays the game.

I am repeating myself, but the Anello video does not do justice to the play.....two guys rode him out of bounds on the punt and he came to midfield to make the tackle.

Sorry to jack the thread, but in view of some recent goings on and complaints about NDSP and SBPD patrols in the parking lots and accosting otherwise well-meaning tailgaters and throwing them in the clink for the night (and those ridiculous "permanent" bannings from campus), I thought I'd point out (and provide the url's) where comments can be submitted to a newly formed "ad hoc committee" formed by Fr. Jenkins "to review the on-campus safety, security, and hospitality protocols and practices for football weekends". The first link is to the site where comments can be submitted. The second link is a description of the committee itself including the members of that committee.

I remember listening to the 1975 game on Mutual Radio. It was the first of Joe Montana's many legendary 4th quarter comeback victories. I think with a little more time on the clock Jimmy Clausen would have pulled this one out for the Irish. Hopefully the bitter loss will fuel a drive for greatness over the rest of the season and into next year.

When I look at that picture of Clausen, I hear 'Peanuts' music playing. But that's okay, next time the football will not be pulled away.

Daybreak, the defense let up what, 18 points? It wasn't a great performance by any stretch. It wasn't even average. But it wasn't some atrocity.

also, tednict, the first anon was obviously making a joke, I don't believe it was a slight against clausen at all

Tednict, Clausen is certainly one of the better Soph QB's in the country. Many programs would kill for a kid w/ his talent & confidence. However, at this point I'd take Sam Bradford in a heartbeat - significantly more poise in the pocket & has shown incredible maturity even last year as a Frosh. Clausen might overtake him next year (or even this year), but he hasn't yet. Although Bradford might be a RS Soph... I can't recall. That'd make a difference.
Is it November 1st yet? I need to see us line up against UW and manhandle them to get this bitter taste out of my mouth.

As much as Saturday sucked--and it did--I am happy to be in a position to be upset about giving away a road game against a top 25 team.

This team has come a long way already, and I'm excited to see what it will be in November, bowl season, and next September.

One thing I've caught from all the Tarheel fans down here is how much they have bought into the hype surrounding Clausen. Everyone I've heard talk about the game has said that they're a believer now and that he put critics to rest, even though he did make the mistake tossing the pick to Sturdivant.

I guess that's something to take away.

As for the defense...they kept UNC out of the endzone in the first half. However, I think the entire team had the air knocked out of them with the pick six. Still, a little tighter coverage on the receivers would be nice...

Diesel Knight is a who ha.

Mike Anello needs to come back for another year.
He has a year left.

"The first comment by "Anon" is a real cheap shot at JC. It is absurdly shortsighted as is the person who authored the post."

That's cute. It was obviously a joke, as Majnun pointed out, not meant to belittle Clausen but rather to point out how great Anello is. Life is a lot more fun when you don't take everything so seriously ;)

baIrish: Bradford is a redshirt sophomore indeed. Makes a big difference, in my opinion. A year of watching, learning the offense, and maturing in the system.

For Clausen, that was last year...only he got hit in the mouth 60 times while learning.

Better to compare Clausen this year to Bradford last year. Bradford still has the edge, but I tend to think he won't get much better while Clausen's ceiling is a bit higher.

Anello with perfect form on the single leg take-down. Wrestling skills can be mighty handy in football. Ask Trevor Laws.

I don't know why there is such a focus on blaming one unit or the other for this loss. Its a team game and it was a team loss. If we gave up 50 while scoring 49, you could have a beef with the defense (unless those 50 came on special teams and pick 6s). Clearly the defense needs to improve in multiple areas. The offense needs to be able to run the ball and hang on to it. I also don't think this staff believes it can win with a superior offense alone, or they would not have brought in Brown and Tenuta. Whether those two will live up to expectations is an open question.

Does anyone know how to download the Anello video from the website?

Mexican I,

Agreed. Mike Anello should enroll in B-School and come back next year. I want to see kick returners getting killed by an MBA.

BaIrish, you won't have to live with that bitter taste until Nov. 1st. We play UW on the 25th.

Go Irish!

Chris: it doesn't look easy. The standard flash video sites don't work. You may want to try one of the browser plugins that can rip flash.

Note to self: on kickoffs, do not cut back toward Anello's side of the field.

Thanks to links for all the great pictures despite the loss. Can the 2nd half of the season be the most critical games in the CW era? I think so.

Any suggestions on a browers plug-in? I have a tech buddy who tried to use a plug-in for firefox, but it didn't work.

Reading about graduation rates in the FWJG article. It is always so nice to see Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, LSU, Texas, USC and Alabama ranked in the top ten for academic success..oh wait....

Mexican Irish is a jerk.

That is all.

Oh, and screw Mark May.

Is it coincidence that the highlight video did not include any of the first quarter that I also missed? Anyone have video of our opening touchdown drive?

Guys:
Switching gears, the venom coming out of Knoxville towards Phil Fulmer and Ann Arbor towards RichRod is intensifying. There is a fire RRod website and one of the bloggers apologized for all the wise cracks he made about ND last year. There are even rumors that RichRod is going to Clemson.

"There are even rumors that RichRod is going to Clemson."

Dear God, how much would it cost to break that contract?

"Agreed. Mike Anello should enroll in B-School and come back next year. I want to see kick returners getting killed by an MBA."

I will buy a ticket and drive to Stanford next year if that happens. That would be AWESOME.

I bet he comes back. Next year could be one for the books and there's no way he won't want to be a part of that.

Sorry, Chris - it looks like there's no obvious way to do it.
