vidal hazelton's run reminded me of that pitt TE in 04 when ND defenders were bouncing off of him the last few seconds of the game and Palko was warming up his F-bombs on the sidelines

Easy jump?? Easy for you to say. Winds were gusting up to 28mph.

I had an instructor at Fort Bragg who said prior to our first jump: two things fall out of the sky; bird $hit and a$$holes.
Geronimo!!
Duff man; Is that the famous "Duff Man" from Westchester County, NY. home of the junior $enator of NY & philo expert of the Blue & Gold "premium board"?

Guster song references! Nice.

I have never understood the concept of jumping out of a perfectly good airplane.

Ahahahah Subway

Subway Alumni -

As my son in law and former paratrooper is fond of retorting, "When they make a perfectly good plane, I'll stop jumping out of them."

All planes must be perfectly good to me since I have no interest in jumping out of any.

First Desmond Reed, now the parachuter... Charlie Weis's dangerous, despicable antics with Notre Dame's grass claims another victim.

"Bruton added "punt blocker" to his ..."

I would say he techincally didn't block the punt as much as intercept the drop. Let's just say "shoe shined."

I skydove once--the plane only had one real seat, for the pilot. Everyone else HAD to jump, because you can't land without everyone in a seat. Ready or not, out you go!

And lemme tell ya, it was sweet.

The Black Daggers ended up at the tailgate I attend every week after the game. The guy that injured his leg was still on crutches and had his leg elevated on one of the coolers.

How about "punt disruptor" yago?

I think the "easy jump" reference was made to the fact that the jump was not made at 0200 with a 110 lb ruck and weapon......over, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Colombia, Philippines, or even the Uwharrie National Forest....with comparable wind gusts. Oh yeah, even a marked DZ can be considered a luxury. On the other hand, there is a big difference between injuring a leg and losing a leg. Love it that these guys jumped in.

My father-in-law was 82nd Airborne in WWII and made four combat jumps -- Sicily, Italy, D-Day and Holland. Landed in St. Mer Eglise on D-Day, could see the tracer bullets all around him as he went down. I guess that would qualify as a difficult jump. Funny thing is, you can't get him to ever go in an airplane again!

Another great post from BGS.

I especially liked the Guster song titles.

It emptied out pretty early when we played FSU in '03. I think that was 38-0 too, but for some reason I feel like that was even more of a blow-out.

Animal - I hate playing that game (which 38-0 loss was worse).

On that Bruton play, are you talking about this one:

Bruton made a nice play there but after looking at the photos I just don't know what the QB was thinking/seeing.

Disappointing as the exodus of the Irish fans were, it did not match the booing of the Trojan fans of their team at the close of the Stanford game--moreover, at the end of the game, the Trojan players refused to walk to the center of the field to shake hands/greet the Stanford players....

Nice pictures New No.2

I think Bruton really closed in a hurry on the play and that it looked a lot more open at the snap. I remember that play thinking that Bruton was really playing far off and that a short pass would be wide open.

Absolutely disagree that poor tackling sums up the season. In case you haven't noticed, this team ranks DEAD LAST in total offense, 120 out of 120 D1A schools! The offense has been ABYSMAL. We all drank the Kool-Aid on Chucky Weis and Jimmah way too soon. This offense is SAD.

1. no real notre dame fan would ever leave any game early, no matter what the score.

2. these people, if they really were notre dame fans should be put last on every ticket request list for the future.

we can id them with the game film.

3. there is no room for whimps in the notre dame fan community all over the world, whether they graduated from notre dame or not.

have a nice day,

bob gilleran

Brian - It wasn't so much the poor tackling that I was referencing. It was the helpless feeling of watching nothing go right for ND on the field in a sort of Keystone Cops manner. It was just an ugly, ugly play from an ND fan perspective.

GUSTER! hell yeah

Talking about the sod, what is going on with it? Our field looks like the rough in the U.S. Open golf championship. To be perfectly honest, it looks like hell on T.V. I can't believe it's designed to slow down the opponents. We don't need a new coach, we need a new groundskeeper. Oh yeah, some good players would help too.
