Forget Jimmy Clausen, Harrison Smith, et al., the most improved aspect of the ND program was the field. It looks like field turf. I have no idea how it will hold up but it made a heck of a first impression.

Doew anyone know who the recruit in the hat and the one with the dreads are?

Once again Blue Gray Sky proves hands down the best of any ND related news site. Premium or free.
Opus #LX1

we just got another Recruit as of today.

I think its Theo Riddick. Notre Dame is gonna be stocked at running back.

Im really starting to belive Notre Dame is going to be great again.

PJC--I have been going off and on to ND football games since Lou’s first year. Only attended three Blue-Gold games and that is the nicest I have ever seen the field. After the nasty Indiana winter this year, I was surprised how thick and rich the grass looked. It was cut very high, I’m sure the running backs were not happy.

Glad to see they are replacing the wooden benches. Why when they built the second tier they put in wood instead of aluminum all the way around is a mystery to me. Folks around me were bitching about picking up splinters left and right. They should keep wood in the sections they sell to the enemy.

Thought the crowd was subdued on campus, around the bookstore, and in the stadium compared to last year. Guess the threat of thunderstorms had something to do with it. No QB competition either.

Honors to the Hockey Team was nice.

Are those new uniforms for the cheerleaders? They had trouble keeping them in place. If Father H. catches that, they’ll be changing.

The work of George Toma, groundskeeper for all 42 Super Bowls.

The Big East Women's LAX semifinals and final are this weekend at the Stadium. Once that's done, they'll be able to aerate the field a couple of times over the summer, and it should look even better for the SDSU game.

Yup, both Irisheyes and Irishillustrated are indicating that Theo Riddick is now Irish. I'm looking forward to a BGS post about him. I think "The Chronicles of Riddick" is too easy. Maybe "Pitch Back" will work.

DCDomer- Thoughs are some good names.

Aluminium bleachers for real?! I am wholeheartdly against aluinum bleachers. If you want to replace them, go with NEW wooden bleachers. Anyone realize what South Bend weather will do to metal bleachers? One sunny day in September when your ass is being lit on fire and you're sweating like George O'Leary doing a background check, you will rue the day you asked for aluminium.

I thought they were going to do "fake" wooden bleachers. They spot replaced some in the student section with that kind last year.

And look at Kuntz, the first one from the defensive bench rushing the field during the fight.

The interception sequence is particularly fun.

While the monochromatic scheme is a good fashion choice for Charlie, the high-waisted-pleated-belted pants is not. Mrs. Weis, we need a fashion intervention!

Subway, I'd say they put wooden benches in the upper section so that when they replace them they can sell pieces of them for a profit. So you too, can "own a piece of Notre Dame Stadium".

OC mj- Agreed. Those pants are horrible. To be completely honest, I'm not entirely certain what exactly would flatter him but I know that those pants certainly don't.

And I don't know who the guy with the dreads is, but his hair is awesome. I think we need him for that reason alone.

...and your ass freezes in the winter. Michigan fans bring in cardboard to sit on the alum.

The sequence of the interception looks a lot like the Zapruder film...

Harrison almost strikes a Heisman pose in one picture after interception.

Great pix...felt like I was there for a minute. As unfortunate as the Harrison INT was for the offense, I love how the O-line, first Young then Stewart, seem to have reacted quickly and continually in pursuit of Harrison. No giving up on the play even if they'd never catch him...Exactly the attitude/intensity we want. Man, that stadium always calls me home. Go Irish.
