I also think that Islam's stubborn refusal to modernize also doesn't help... Islam does not automatically equal terror - but with the state of it right now, it quite often does.

I wish all the apologists for Islam would take a tiny bit of time to actually OPEN THE BOOK (the Koran) for themselves and see the truth, rather than buying the lies that Muslims are commanded to tell us ("religion of peace," "Islam respects all religions," etc.). That's the only place I differ with Rebekah; Islam, in its true form, pretty much DOES equal terror. It's an ideology, not a real religion, as far as I'm concerned. The Muslims that aren't terrorists and/or don't wish for world domination are Muslims in name only. I wish there were more of them.
I have met so many Iraqi's online and feel so close to them... I keep tip toing, around this problem. Trying to figure out a way to expose Islam for what it is... a cult, yet not offend them. It's true, the moderate Muslims have no idea what their religion is all about.

It is sad but you are quite correct. Frankly it doesn't matter what the Koran says, only how the followers of Islam act. What's that old saying? "Actions speak louder than words." Offend Islam and you die.
The funny thing about Americans is that most of us were outraged by Tom Toles tasteless cartoon in the WaPo last week and the JCS even wrote a letter to the man. I just don't remember him getting any death threats. I wanted to slap the living daylights out of him but kill him for exercising his freedom of speech? No, we're civilized humans here, not some sub-species that can be incited to violate human rights anytime our religious leaders feel like it.
How weak your religion must be if it can't take a hit a two. Christianity takes hits all the time and is still ever faithful and kind. That says something about the truth of things.

Oh well, here I am again. One more thing.
It becomes clearer and clearer to me every day that only Americans truly understand freedom. I fear we will once again be liberating Europe with military action very soon.
