Mike Huckabee President 2008

I am glad to see he is keeping true to his Baptist roots, and being civil.
When we let emotions block our intelligence on these key issues, we do stupid things.

I'm leaning toward Huckabee! However I want to know how willing he is to streanthen our borders and if He supports parents choosing what school their kid go's to!Right now for me it's between Huckabee and Tancredo. But for some reason I'm leaning toward Huckabee!

I buy most of his philosophy, but I, too, would like to hear how he would protect our borders.

Does he favor amnesty or not? How is he going to deal with illegal immigration and those who are already here?
Comprehensive immigration reforms are nothing more than amnesty to those who have violated the United States laws.
If illegal aliens are caught, send them back. If they have children who were born in the United States, they have a choice, either leave with or without you children. They made a choice to enter illegally, now deal with it.
I hope Mr. Huckabee takes a strong stand on this issue. Illegal immigration is going to be one of the biggest issues in the campaign. I would sure like to support his efforts to become President of the United States if he feels the same way we do about immigration. So far, he is the only candidate who I will vote for.

Does he want to protect our borders or open them up? A nation needs borders.

I like what Huckabee had to say about Illegal Immigrant Children. What does he have to say about Govt. benefits for Illegals presently employed in USA?? How can we better secure our Borders against the flood of Hispanics & Terrorists as well??

I would like to know Gov. Huckabee's position on punishing businesses that hire illegals. Is he willing to pursue them even if they are heavy donors to the Republican Party? How would he go about this and implementing an ID system so employers can be held accountable?
Also, is he willing to lead an effort to amend our Constitution to eliminate citizenship for children of immigrants who come here illegally - so-called "anchor babies"?
I have emailed his campaign about this twice and am not getting any reply. Does anybody read this that can speak for his campaign on these subjects?
Thanks,
John Putnam

I like almost all of Gov. Huckabees positions on issues. I find it difficult, however to support his immigration policy when it is not consistent with what Americans want. I appreciate his hard stance on deporting illegals who are caught trying to collect gov. benefits or voting but offering education to the children of illegals is just a reward to the successful ones. This does not seem to wash. Also, to close the loophole, I would like to see him propose retracting the "born in the US, automatically a citizen" clause. This would do alot to remove some of the illegal draw to the US to begin with.

It would be contrary to all international law to deny citizenship to native born children, and the worst possible message to send about this great country's value of human life. I am taking a second look at the candidate solely because he is taking a humanist and consistent approach to this issue. As the 24 year long spouse of a legally resident alien who has chosen to retain his citizenship of origin, I can tell you that the consolidation of the INS with Homeland Security has given nearly dictatorial power to ICE. It resulted in the wrongful prosecution of my innocent husband. I now know what the phrase "Don't make a federal case out of it."

I watched Larry King tonight and was interested to learn more about the governor since he was the guest. I have found him to be an interesting and promising candidate. I was disappointed in a remark he make about his upbringing however, he stated he didn't come from a
"high" background or something to that effect, being the son of a Fireman from Hope Arkansas. That got my attention as I am a retired Fireman and always felt proud of that fact. I think a comment like that may cost him dearly.
