Mike Huckabee President 2008

It is too soon to concede anything but this: an alternative to the Washington-New York Axis is taking shape.
Those who continue with that axis will wind up as Whigs. But, the question is, what role, if any, would they play in a refurbished GOP?
Time will tell, and in the meantime there is work to be done to complete the alternative.

You could not be more right!!! These attacks on Huck from everyone including Rush Limbaugh today on the radio show that the GOP Eastern Elites are exactly what you express: anti-evangelical, anti-southern, anti-social conservative and if I might add one myself, Anti-Christ. If they think they can win without us, see the results of the 2006 election. I even think they talked Alan Keyes into running again to try and split up Mike's Support. But try as they may, it's not working. We have the Eastern Elites running scared. Everyone from Fred Barnes to Chris Matthews are firing their guns at Huck. But we will prevail!!! Go Huck!!!

I always thought Tancredo and Hunter would drop out of the race shortly after IA., that Alan Keyes would go first! Well, I was wrong. With the predictable departure of Tancredo from the race, the field narrows down from nine to eight. I should say seven because Ron Paul will ultimately run as an independent. The truth is that there are four contenders, Huckabee, McCain, Giuliani and Romney in order of likelihood to win.
While I was hoping Tancredo would immediately endorse Huckabee, he wasted his endorsement on Romney. Nevertheless his endorsement might not mean diddly squat given the low numbers he's been polling.
Tancredo was never in the race to win the Presidency; it was an ingenious ploy to boost his image and exposure by getting an early jump on the Senate campaign next year.
Huckabee has earned his way to the top and will be rewarded by the populace. While he is not the GOP poster boy, he is by far the closest to base in the current field of contenders. The Huckster also reminds us that one can come from humble beginnings and end at the very top.
For all it's worth, some of us have followed the Huckabee campaign for a while and read your blog enthusiastically, however, it's very disheartening for you to end today’s blog in a condensating and conceding tone, by hinting that the Huckster might loose and come back next time on account of his youth. The truth is that he will win it and that's all you have to print.

It was not my intention to give the impression of concession of ANYTHING. Quite the opposite. But as I re-read the post I saw how you might have thought that. It has been editied.
HUCKABEE will win.

Thanks for your post. I agree.
I am a first time financial supporter of any candidate. I've never given before thinking it won't make a difference, but Mike Huckabee is worth the effort and worth giving for.

Hi to everyone on this blog, a special thanks to the person that started and promoted this blog before it was cool to get behind the Gov. I have been reading this blog for a long time, but this is my first post. This blog was an important influence on my selection of which candidate to support. As some of you may or may not know I spent form July 12 through Aug 13 as a full time volunteer, serving as State Field Coordinator helping coordinate the Commitment Card Program that was used to get out the vote that enabled Gov. Huckabee to finish second in the Straw Poll. This was a program where you signed a card and returned it to the campaign headquarters which stated that you were committed to go to Ames and vote on Aug 11. When someone makes this type of commitment they are much more likely to follow through on their commitment. The plan was to follow through with this plan all the way through to the caucus. By the Governor’s strong second place finish we though this would provide enough money to keep full time staff at the Iowa office to proceed with this plan, but as everyone now knows the money did not come in and the office was scaled back to a bare minimum. By mid Oct. it became obvious to many of us that it was fast becoming critical that we get started on following through with the commitment program that was started at the Straw Poll. That is when we started to upgraded our online version of Hucks Army and It’s Not Too Late To Save 08. Hucks Army is a closed Huckabee discussion forum where support of the Gov. can make posts, met new friends, find information and view videos of the Gov. on issues and at events. Hucks Army also sponsors online fundraising events, check out http://dec27th.hucksarmy.com . Save 08 is the continuing of the commitment process used in the Straw Poll but it is tracked online instead of paper cards passed form one person to another. Save 08 also carries the commitment process one step further. We ask you to become a brave John Hancock, not only post your Name but the State and County you are from so the nation, your family and friends know where us stand in this battle to reclaim Our Great Country. If you are from Iowa please go to Mike Huckabee’s website at www.mikehuckabee.com/?FuseAction=IowaHQ.Voters and let them know that you are going to show up on caucus night and vote for Gov. Huckabee. Also it is extremely important to show the rest of the nation that Iowa is standing strong for Gov. Huckabee. For all of you that are not in Iowa it is just as important to let the brave John Hancock’s of Iowa know that you are standing with them and are going to vote for Gov Huckabee when it comes time for you to vote in your state. Please go to www.save08.org and let the people of Iowa and the nation know that you are standing for a man that truly reflects the values of Christian Conservatives. If you are willing to getting involved in this battle to save our Christian Conservative values please email me at bill@hucksarmy.com with your phone # and I will be glad to give you a call and let you know how you can help it this cause.

The Republican elite is spending a great deal of time trashing Gov. Huckabee. They are going after him with everything, but the "kitchen sink." This is similar to the way the same group of Republican elites went after Senator McCain in 2000. This group seems to have decided that Mitt Romney is the establishment's candidate!
I would caution the Republican elite to be careful what they wish for, they just might get it. We are heading into a year when the economy is certain to be a key issue. The fallout from the subprime mess will be hanging over the economy like a dark cloud. This is a mess that originated on Wall Street, so the party elite in their infinite wisdom think that an arrogant, Wall Street multi-millionaire will connect with American voters! That dog won't hunt (and neither does Romney)!
Imagine Governor Romney campaigning in Ohio next fall. This is a state that is #1 in foreclosures in the country, and has lost thousands of jobs to overseas manufacturing. It is also a state the Republicans need to win the election. The independent voters in Ohio won't go for an unapologetic free trader, and Wall Street millionaire. He has many of the same issues John Kerry did in 2004 and Al Gore did in 2000!
Governor Huckabee is the one candidate that can unify the party and connect with independent voters. His communication skills are top notch, and he is operating from a core set of values driven by his beliefs rather than the latest poll numbers. He does not need to "tear up on cue" to show his softer side. He doesn't need to announce he is going to change positions to a more conservative approach. He just has to be who he is. Let's hope for a win in Iowa, so we can begin to build a grand coalition that will carry Governor Huckabee to the White House!

I have been a fan of Huckabee's since his "Character IS The Issue" book was released and I was given a copy. As a Baptists Preacher - I didn't think preachers should be involved in politics. The Governor changed my thinking on that issue and challenged all Christians to be involved to "change politics" We are involved, and just like Baptist Churches don't like change - the country doesn't like change. Your comments are right on target and I really appreciated the prophetic CBN quote of the Governor about being "easily led" since Anne Coulter just came out accusing of Huckabee of being just that. If Mike doesn't win the nomination, GOP's are in trouble and many Evangelical leaders like Gary Bauer, Bob Jones III, and Pat Robertson are going to be stuck with a King and country they helped make - buisness as usual Washington at best - presuming a GOP outside of Huckabee can get elected in November. If Mike doesn't get nominated - I would hope he wouldn't settle for a VP Position and consider a 3rd Party run - because no real leaders have emerged in the 3rd party arena to date either, but it will come.

I think that Mitt Rommney taking exception to Mr. Huckabee trying to distance himself for Mr. Bush and his administration is outlandish. Mike needs to put as many miles between him and Mr. Bush as he can. Mr. Bush has condoned torture in all of it uses. Jesus Christ was tortured to death along with many of his followers at the hands of a foreign country, the roman empire. are times really that different than they were two thousand years ago? torture is still torture. what would jesus think about the bush administration today?

You are SO right about the Republican establishment 'using' Christians for too long.
I came to the same conclusion about three years ago.
