Actually, I've been saying this all spring, but Obombers have their heads so far up their fucking asses, for the most part, that they can't see this simple fact.
Look, on a scale of 1 to 100, one hundred being Kucinich or better, Wellstone, and 1 being rookie Senator Jon Tester of Montana, I score about a 94, meaning I make most progressives look like they wear armbands and march in single file.
But I also understand the realities of this election. We're always going to choose the lesser of two evils, and we have to nudge, not wrest, the ship of state onto a progressive course.
I don't think either Obama is ready to be President, nor do I think the American people are ready to have him be President, for the simple reason that he can be painted as being "too liberal," even tho he clearly isn't (he's run scared from voting against the Iraq war, ducked voting on the Iran AUF, among other issues).
It's going to take time, and that, sadly, is something Obama's supporters are not going to give.
Or him. I pity Obama after his first year.

Yes. And concede that Hillary Clinton is only half as progressive as Obama and we have a deal.

I see actor's in the first and second stages of grief simultaneously: denial and anger.
Let it go, son. Mama's not gonna get the nom. And I'm glad, 'cause if she were to run the country like she's ran her campaign, she'd basically finish the job Bush started.
In other words, she's supremely incompetent on every level. This morning, for instance, she told USA Today that she's the candidate of choice for "hard working white Americans."
(Because you just know those lazy, aimless negroes are lining up to vote for a brotha, 'cause they're hoping they'll receive with their food stamps a taxpayer-funded voucher for a shiny new Cadillac painted in Welfare Queen White.)
My Gawd. Blind ambition can make a politician say truly disgusting things. Does she actually think she could be elected without African-American support? If she does, she's simply too goddamned stupid to be president.

Also, from the same thread, this gem:
DN Nation-
Your last post has me leaning McCain again.
The word he meant there was "comment".
As in: "Your last comment has me leaning McCain again."
Pfui, gives me hairballs.

Horatius,
No, because Obama's in many ways to the right of Clinton.
Ken,
The problem with accusing someone of being in denial is it foreswears your own "feet of clay" candidate's losing campaign.
Five times, Obama should have buried Clinton. Five times, he has not.
He will lose to McCain, despite all your pleadings.
But your desperation is comforting!

You know I'm not sure McCain will beat Obama. Certainly, that's not the way it's been polling. Maybe if Zellary waves a Confederate flag from the back of her pick up truck next time, she can put Grampy over the top. Don't be afraid to dream little Hilbots!

He will lose to McCain, despite all your pleadings.
If it is, it will only be because of Hillary supporters who put their ego above their country.

You wouldn't consider FDR to be "slightly progressive"?
How about Adlai Stevenson? How about Teddy when he ran as the Bull Moose candidate? He was, after all, a major figure in the history of environmentalism, and worked strongly to limit the power of big capitalists.
You know, even Herbert Hoover had what were considered to be progressive positions on a number of issues, before disaster struck and he retreated into party-line Republican cant.
