Gravatar Now here is something we can agree on.

I scored 348, also below the median. I too have a shower curtain, camping gear, flooring and carpets etc, I love my scented candles.

But the Scorecard..... OH MY! I thought S.D. was one of the better areas. It makes me sick. I will pass a link to that site to everyone I know, I hope they are as disgusted as I.

Gravatar I echo Jenn's reaction. I felt good about my below average scores until I checked my county's standing on the Scorecard. My EPA friend informs me that this Administration's five year assault on environmental standards -- never THAT great to begin with -- has left us all at risk. Alas, unlike the immediate gratification of a tax break, the consequences of these lowered standards won't be felt for years but the consequences are real nonetheless. Indeed they are more than "real"; they're deadly.

Gravatar Mari,

I'm doing pretty good. I scored a 252! That sure made me happy. I haven't looked at what a cesspool I live in yet. I'm looking at the data and realize it's by county. That could be a little hard to judge since I live in the biggest county in the country (San Bernardino). But still it doesn't look very good. We've got some work to do!

Gravatar Thanks, a real eye opener.

Gravatar One of the most frustrating things here in San Diego is the fact that there is no enforced recycling.

So, at work, I bring my own container that I make everyone use, and take it to the recycle place.

The apartments we now live in do not have any recycling at all, so I went out and bought 3 huge garbage cans and labeled them for recycling, but not enough people are using them, and I really don't want to crawl through the dumpsters to grab the recycling. Dumpsters-heatwave-gross.

So I've written the city and the newspaper and everyone I can think of to get them to begin a forced recycling plan. No luck yet, but I'll keep it up.
