I have heard of christians who support the jews because the jews have to rebuild Solomon's temple in order to usher in the second coming of christ.( Unfortunately, I believe the dome of the rock is in the way.)
As far as bush and his religious beliefs and their affect on policy.
Either he is a religious nut who is hooked thru the nose on the lines that the religious right is laying out for him.
Or more likely. That he has used religion , and is using the religious right- first to ge elected, and now to turn a blind eye to his wrongdoing and to his incompetency in running the government and the wars.
Bush once said that Jesus was his favorite philosopher. I don't believe it. I think his true gods are money and power, and the power to enrich his friends with power and money.
