It really is unsubtle, and I agree that "unsubtlety" is no vice when you are seeking votes from the least subtle people on the face of the Earth.
I hope he keeps reminding people that he is just like them, except for his education and career prospects.
I'd like to see an ad with him waving the flag, saying the pledge of allegiance with WWII vets, eating hot dogs and mowing the lawn. No Muslim women in scarves, thank you. Let's not have any more religion at all, please - but especially not Islam.
Let's avoid any more confusion than the right wing will be throwing at us.
