If Israel attacks Iran, it will because US policy in the region over the eight years of the Bush regime made any other outcome extremely unlikely; only a complete reversal in Iran to complement the one in Washington in the past year could have set the conditions necessary to avoid a showdown.
No one can say Obama has not tried to steer relations with Iran into a more positive direction. But Israel will have to defend herself, and America will support her in that mission. Obama said it a year ago, and I believe he meant it.
