This torture issue isn't going away. Obama missed a real opportunity on this one to start his administration off with completely washing his hands of the torture program, putting the prisoners currently being held into the legal system, and encourage/allow/push his Attorney General to do a thorough investigation of the torture crimes. So far as we're aware, he actually did end the ongoing practice of torture. But his administration has actually defended the program legally, making even more extreme claims in court for government secrecy than the Cheney administration did.
