Here's my thing and you can kinda agree: Lucy was in our homes for years and for the most part, we saw her everyday. The woman, for some folks, is like a part of the family. So, seeing the photo is a cool artifact, but like I said, it's kinda funky to see her topless.
I think a young Carole Lombard (so young that she hadn't yet added an "e" to her first name) did some artsy poses in the late 1920s, when she was roughly the same age as Lucille Ball in her shot. Not sure if Lombard actually showed a nipple; one of those pictures ran in Look magazine in the late thirties, and the photo ran to the edge of the page before any nipple was visible. Lucy and Carole later became friends when both were at RKO. Lucy always credited Lombard as a comedic inspiration, and later even said Carole appeared to her in a dream and told her to try a television series.
