Have the US broadcast networks produced anything good enough to be judged better than DAMAGES, for goodness's sake, in the last year? Leaving aside FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, revived as much by DirecTV as by NBC, there was NBC's LIFE, ABC's US version of LIFE ON MARS, NBC's CHUCK and CW's REAPER (unless one chooses to slot these in the comedy section), and even the US first run of DA VINCI'S INQUEST would be eligible and a better choice, for me, than the ridiculous soap opera DAMAGES or the pointlessly drawn-out enigmas of LOST. For more of my reactions to the Emmy noms, I refer you to my blog...but the nomination of FAMILY GUY and 2.5 MEN and the snubbing of both SCRUBS and Applegate's CHRISTINA WHO? is indicative of why these awards are a dull joke.
