we just did this, except we let it soak overnight. (The volatiles are sulfur based therefore stinky. Soak them outside) They were delicious and AnnaMarie sent me out to find more.

Your helicopters get to bristle machine guns?? Awesome. I thought that was illegal.

Steve: thanks for calling that into question. I just reviewed a half-dozen pictures of CHP helicopters on Flickr and elsewhere, and while none are an exact match to the bird I saw (as far as markings; the model appeared to be correct in three pics) I didn't see any weaponry.
The guy with the binoculars said he saw machine guns; I didn't question his perception. Perhaps all the antennas and airspeed indicators looked like machine guns to him?

There are pitot tubes on the front (kind of like speedometers) that could be mistaken for guns, I guess. Using copters as tactical shooting platforms outside the battlefield is Hollywood. You are the perfect target---there's no surface I'd want to risk getting struck by lead, you have zero cover or concealment, and a ground target has plenty of both. For Law enforcement their are mostly an aerial observation platform, with cameras that can read license plates, and computer mapping databases that will tell you who owns every property you fly over.
OK that's kind of scary too, even with out the machine guns.
