To pay for redwoods?

I would be interested in options A B & C as to how much they would have raised out taxes.

Gravatar Why am I not surprised? Because Kim Richter has been telling us at every chance she gets what is going to be in store for us if the same ol', same'ol get re-elected. It has now come to pass and we can expect even rockier roads ahead....

The only way out of this is start now working to oust that good ol' boys club out of the cozy position they have created for themselves, with our hard earned tax dollars.

Make no mistake, they plan to be there in their arm chairs sucking the stuffing right out of us until someone steps in and ends it, they aren't going to leave on their own.

Gravatar What the council should consider is totaling up the increase in revenue gained over the past year from new property assesments. They should add to this whatever factor matches the genral inflation rate. The 2006 budget should start with this dollar figure and compare it to the township operating and capitol budget forecasts. If these figures are made public, we can all see where the fat has been added. The cost of additional police and fire should be calculated and held separate until we can compare the other costs. How else can the average person have transparency to the process? I am not an accountant, so if anyone can shoot holes in this method or add anything please do.

Gravatar Jordan Bateman is in for a big surprise when he finds out that his beloved police addition of 15 or 18 he is going to have to give up on. Because he'll find out that the only dramatic cuts available in City Hall are cutting staff. Dramatic cuts will be neccessary to get the cuts and not sacrifice cops and Fire and we will still see tax increases. In any business people are the only large operating costs cuts available. The union will come to hate Bateman for his banter and he will be played like a fiddle by Kurt.He should have stuck on Kim's team because he will be betrayed by Kurt. Having Kurt and now Kim against him will screw him in the end. Meanwhile his crap about his promises is just that as he never had a platform publicized about cops. His Number one was tax increase and 2 was fire. I agree with others who say he sold out. Neither Kurt nor Kim can trust him now. Jordan played the game for self interest only and I predict that next election he will be booted because of this.I hope that we hear more in here re the spending excesses of this council. KEEP UP THE DEEP THROAT.

Gravatar His blog ain't worth commenting on since its only full of Jordan's friends and followeres. Even 'Perhaps an mla may have' a pen name on his site. You can see it when Jordan gushes about how much he values his support! please make sure this on stays more pure to open trhought and opinion.

Gravatar The problem here is that kim is an ndpeer as such she is unfit to coment on taxcontrol

Gravatar Let's hear some suggestions on how tax can be controlled. Other than fire and police costs, what do we have to cause the increase. Jordan? Kim?

Gravatar Poke around with some of the items in the capitol budget anyone. Sorry for the impatience, but some of the excesses are glaring in my opinion, and I haven't looked at all of them. The grandstand cost for the stadium near that high school across from the airport is unbelievable. I still can't believe the numbers!

Gravatar Pianoman: Funny you should mention capital costs - that's going to be the topic of my next Richter Report due tomorrow! As for ideas about how to control costs, why don't we ask each director to justify their base budgets line-by-line (this is called 0-based budgeting). So far they haven't had to do that since the days of the LLT.

MacArthur: There wasn't that massive a difference between options A to D other than option A had 6 new RCMP officers over 3 years; Option B had 9 officers, Option C had 12 officers; and option D had 15 officers. It costs about $118,000 per year per officer. The bigger question was: "why were there no other alternatives presented than these?" Council essentially did not question any of the underlying assumptions to the budget on cost drivers.

A-man: For the record, I haven't been an NDP member for the past 7 years. What I look for in politicians is not a label but rather where they stand fiscally and socially. Fiscally I am right of center and socially I am left of center. Aren't most Conservatives right of center on both while most NDP are left of center on both? If yes, I guess that makes me a centrist. Thanks for asking!

Gravatar Maybe Kim can fill us in on what the $600,000 buys us at the langley Airport in the way of benefits for taxpayers.
While she's at it maybe she could give us an update on how many sports fields have been built recently in Aldergrove, and how many more are planned. If anybody still cares about our health and the environment it might be interesting, because sewers and drainage in the Aldergrove area are approaching a crisis situation.

Gravatar So Kim went to the cowbarn in Cloverdale and listened to Pxke Martin, on the way back she had her Damascusexperience.I think she should take another trip and have another Damascusexperience and become a conservative.Sen. McCarthy said a communist is acommunist is a communist. Dean Drysdale said an ndpeer is an ndpeer is an ndpper. Maybee Kim could unseat WaWwa at next nomination She woul represent us well.

Gravatar Who in the world would ever listen to a thing Dean Drysdale said?

Gravatar Who would ever listen to any thing an ndpeer said

Gravatar A-man should listen to both. He might mellow out and learn something.

Gravatar A-Man: Speaking of revelations, I guess I’m in pretty good company if we include Belinda Stronach, Scott Bryson, Dr. Keith Martin as well as Ujjal Dosanjh. Three of these are federal ministers. Three of these are former Conservatives/Reformers. Maybe they, like I, value human rights more than social conservative party rhetoric. But, hey, if you ever want to start a ‘Draft Kim Richter to Replace Mark Warawa as MP’ movement, let me know! And thanks for your vote of confidence, A-Man. You’re right, I would represent Langley well. Happy New Year!
