Let's face it, Kurt's troops were waiting for this one to hit the agenda on Monday and they were ready to resist. Any councillor who didn't like the motion, but thought there was merit in the idea, could have made an amendment to the motion. They might have even put it off for more study.
There is absolutely no doubt that something has to be done to control cost overruns like ths grandstand boondogle. Even if the Supreme Court explained that fact, the vote would have been 7 - 2. We've got 7 bozos and one clown to remove from office.
Three more years of this folks!

Maybe Kim will remind us more forgetful folks of the date that the council voted for the full blown version of this structure.
I am also curious as to why the council seems NOT to have gone with the recommended budget and plan outlined on page 7 (medium scope/budget of $4M).
I have heard more than one councillor say that is wise to follow the advise of the professionals on staff. What changed their mind?

They did go for the $4 on Nov 29, 2004 see: http://www.kimrichter.com/Blog/$...v%2029%
2004.pdf
This was after the initial $3million voted on August 25, 2003 see:

20meeting.pdf
But on Dec 21, 2005 Jordan moved to add another almost million1 see:

20meeting.pdf
HENCE comes the $3 up to $4 up to $5 million ..wild trip 2003 to 2005! I guess you could say Jordan's motion pushed it up towards the full blown!

Thanks Kim. I don't know if Jordan put his foot in it without realising it, but it does sound like you are both trying to prevent this from happening again. It does look like the mayor is handing you both a dead horse to beat to death though. Someone suggested that he might have something up his sleeve to make his adversaries on this issue look foolish. It wouldn't put it past him.

Jordan on his website finally clarifies that he put the extra million dollar motion on, to simply finish the project. This concerns me since any bureaucrat can at any time go over budget because there is no appetite to say stop or no. Not even by the new Councillors.
Editor not Kim.

Is it not a fact that the other 6 councillors and the mayor jumped on the opportunity and passed the motion?
Jordan might have put his foot in it, but why did others who know the score use the opportunity to overspend?
