Kim,
Quick question did you say the debt is increasing BY $ 35.6 million or did you mean TO $35.6 million, please I hope the latter over the former.

I'm sure Councillor Richter will answer your question herself but in the meantime I believe she is referring to her previous posting about the debt increase that you can see at http://www.kimrichter.com/Blog/2...ry-17-
2006.html This sounds like new debt Blair according to her previous posting!
Sounds like they gave her a rough time yesterday. Probably PO'ed that they had to go public. Gosh, we could have sold tickets to this WWF event! Too bad it was behind closed doors. The question is how many more things have been in camera that should not have been? I gather from what the posting says that she will now take them to task on this issue in future. About time someone did!
The big question is what other Councillors backed her up on this stand she took? We gotta find out. Where is Councillor Bateman on this issue, its a no brainer? We look forward to reporting his slant from his Blog! Wasn't Bateman also the Advance reporter in the olden days that constantly broke leaked in camera stuff from the old LLT opposition Council days?
PS - We at LFP give you 3-1 odds that the Council makes sure that the Council salary increase won't be discussed on the evening meeting as Richter points out! They should send this discussion to their Council priorities meeting ! Nobody, especially the print media attend those! Keeping things out of the lime light is the next best thing to in camera!

My bad, I should have caught that myself. Now I'm more than a bit concerned as a new homeowner in the Township just where are my taxes going to be by 2008? ...maybe I should move back to the City, where they are rolling in the dough
It reminds me of a comment one of my running buddies used to make. He said you could almost always tell when you were leaving the City for the Township because that was where the sidewalks ended and we were left to running on the hard shoulder instead.
I suppose there is a benefit to 1) having a casino, and 2) living off the fat of the land (or the Township taxpayers whichever is easier). Isn't it about time the Township stopped paying to supplement police services etc.. to the City?

But Blair for simple Councillors, simple math helps. e.g. Increase taxes 20% so increase Council Salaries 20%. Simple math for simple minds.

Get this, another Councillor says that it came out of in camera because COUNCIL decided it should. What other choice did they have after this previous Richter Posting:
http://www.kimrichter.com/Blog/2...-9-
2006_10.html
He made no mention at all of Richter or even of the heat she refers to what ever that means? Why would there be "heat" if it was a simple error? (Watch their spin on this folks, it should be good). Give us a break! If Richter would not have made it an issue does this other Councillor really want us to believe that it would still have come out of in camera. His gall and understatement is overwhelming.
This self serving attitude is not only limited to him but has been demonstrated before by the majority of Council and once again clearly shows their determination to rewrite history in their own favour! First attempt was to rewrite history on the $3-4-5 Million Grandstand overrun which at least one local newspaper has bought hook line and sinker, now this!
The ole boys club sticks together right or wrong. Unbelievable! Give credit where credit is due for crying out loud! I guess this helps answer my previous question, who backed her up? We bet this self serving Councillor sure didn't, but he trys to take the credit away from Richter for getting Council salary increases out of in Camera and then trys to suggest that he and Council would have anyway and how holier than thou he is!
Do you believe this claptrap? I can hardly wait to hear more from him on this as well as from the other ol boys too. Wake up everybody, you elected this prima donna gaggle of goofs! Face it folks unless Richter would have brought it up they would very likely in our humble opinion have discussed it in camera and passed their own salary increase last night. Now lets see what they do with it in public and who votes to raise their salaries. Our bet is Richter's report may have changed one or two votes. Time will tell. This whole fiasco deserves its own column! Working on it!

Hey there money, sounds like by your name you don't have to worry about expenses like us other poor ordinary tax payers. As for me, I appreciate Richter holding their feet to the fire and forcing openness and transparency, much to the others chagrin. Keep up the good work Kim.

I'd like someone to clear up the statement that any pay raise voted on now will not take effect until 2008. I read this on the other blog, and it sounds a bit odd to me.
