Gravatar We do not need your negativity. The environmental progam at South Carvolth Environmental Elementary School is ahead of its time and just needs a chance. The environmental curriculum was implimented September 2004. Everyone should be asking the question, Why reveiw this school when the program is only in its second year? This school is a shining example of what parents want for their kids. They just haven't know it was there. Now ask Why.

Gravatar Sorry, but so far how many Trustees are going along with keeping the school open? They are probably worried that another, larger group arises that will criticize keeping the school! We wish you good luck but so far all we see is only one publicly elected local official who has come out to support your efforts. By our count you need 4 trustee votes to stay alive.

Gravatar It appears that we are spending our time throwing jabs at each other rather than a concerted effort to get something done in this township that is to the beneift of all residents. The benefit would be to slow development to at least get a good look at the problems that are being created for the traffic flows patterns, the environment, the loss of good agricultrual lands, and the covering of the municpality in asphalt. We need to have a better understanding of the damage being done with the massive development that is robbing us of natural aged trees, land uses that are destroying our wildlife, and the need to improve exsiting infrastructure, You can stand with your head buried in the sand, but this approach is only going to cost you more in taxes as time goes by. The township needs a mayor that is for the township, not a mayor that is trying to be a urban planner.

Gravatar Finally a real voice out of the Wilderness. Exactly, our growth is not sustainable. The Council thinks that the more you grow the more money in our coffers. Look at the Township's Finances and you must disagree. Taxes are up 40% since Kurt Alberts became Mayor and major spending issues and requirements keep coming up. In a perfect world the actual intelligent brains on Council would work together.

Admittedly Kurt Alberts is one of those few contemplative brains. Right now he maintains tight control and direction on Council and therefore is angering his opponents who don't agree with him on key issues of spending and developement.

But he must take the initiative to build bridges with his similarily key intelligent opponents on and of the council. For the good of the Township. He must understand that his opponents have strengths as well too that he should utilize for the common good. Right now he is looked upon as being sneaky, manipulative and punishing by all of his opponents and they are strategically mounting a revolt. His characteristics are not what a real leader should become known for.

Again the initiative is up to him to make real peace or there will be a major battle for the next election and both he and the people could lose. Thanks, your comments are refreshing, accurate and timely. It is time for Mayor Kurt Alberts to show leadership and offer an olive branch, clearly and sincerely.

Gravatar You just make so much sense Mac Aurthur, and there have been quite a few comments you have made that make a lot of sense.

I'm for everything that you stated: the ALC is a laugh, it only protects land that someone doesn't have an "in" with the ALC, the dumping of 10,000 loads of 'fill' on a 10 acre property in S Langley is a travesty of justice, the transportation system is a laugh, 16Ave is a mess, and has gotten worse since the humps on 0 ave diverted a lot of that traffic over to 16th, in Willoughby and other areas of development a lot of the wildlife is being either killed on the road or trying to survive in a subdivison, it just goes on and on.

We need to get some momentum going to try to save our Township before there is nothing left to save. Or, on the other hand, it will have gotten so expensive due to tax and spend syndrome that a lot of the residents won't be able to afford to live here any longer.

Gravatar Good comments MacArthur. Put in simpler form it might go like this:
Present course of expanding without thought + A don't give a damn attitude about the environment, our open lands, and our animal life
= Surrey. God forbid there should be another one like it.
