I'm amazed at all the citisism about our ferry service that has cropped up over this accident. Critics are lifting every rock to take a crack at the things that are wrong with the "Aging" ferries and we don't know the cause of the accident yet. Yes double bottoms are great, but they don't get here until the next generation of ferries, and unless someone wants to dig up millions of bucks we simply have to wait.
It looks like the vessel was steered onto the rocks, either from negligence or a failure of navigational equipment. We'll soon find out, and that's when all the wise ass experts should comment.

Who is paying the cost of running a big ferry with a crew of 49 and 57 passengers not the passengers. Maybee the old hulk going down will save the taxpayers in the long run. It is time to outsource the supplyruns on the coast It could be done for afraction of what it cost As for the local residents being heros a halfdozen boats came out A response from the locals should be expected in an emergency I presume the government built the dock installed the radiotransmitters and financed the communitycenter for them, Expecting something back is not asking to much

Not a bad idea Aman. Give some privateer the opportunity to supply the needs of all the small communities. That's one way to find out for sure the real cost of keeping these little towns going.
I'm curious whether they pay a type of community tax for the services that they get, just like WE do.
