I'm appalled at not only the absentee landlord’s total disregard of the environment but also the total do-nothingness attitude of the mayor and council.

In typical response to another neighbourhood clear-cut, our local leaders can only give us the ever insightful "it must be remembered that while there are people who like the shade trees provide, there are others who like sunshine."

Loping down approximately 50 cedar and fir trees on a half-acre lot will certainly provide some sunshine.

Perhaps the only remedy for the landlord's actions will come through litigation. Perhaps the only remedy for the Township's inaction will come through legislation.

Shame on landlords who put profits ahead of their neighbours (maybe they should pay the Minister of Forests stumpage) and shame on the council that continues to allow this to occur.
