Thanks Kim - and you are correct about Norman Spector's comments.
I immediately objected to his calling Belinda Stronach a "bitch" and continue to do so.
Norman should apologize - it's still not too late to do the right thing.

Women are called bitghes quite often these days, and it doesn't seem to mean much more than a reflection on the fact that they are still often a mystery when it comes to their actions. In the case of men being called name, you can choose from a wide variety of them. as well as what part of their anatomy their brain is located. Men simply don't take much notice unless there's some type of challenge attached.
The short story is: If women want to be treated as equals, stop bitching at everything that men put up with routinely.

Bill Tieleman, thanks for responding so quickly to our posting, I will pass your message on to Kim. I have talked to her and she is as appalled as we all are and hopes to post an article here soon because she says she has quite a few local media examples of the same systemic issues as well as her experiences as the sole female politician on the local Township Council. Unfortunately she is enroute to Ottawa as her father is extremely ill and will be away until mid November. On her behalf thank you. For all you readers who may not know, Bill Tieleman was on the same Bill Goode show with Norman Spector and indeed this Editor heard him immediately and rightfully chastise Mr. Spector.

If Bill Tieleman felt that the term "Bitch" was unsuitable, he should have given his opinion on her behaviour. It's just too easy to come off sanctomoniously, as with a tut-tut.
Frankly, I have not seen any glowing reports on Belinda's performance as an MP, but there sure is a lot about her personal activities. I have to agree with Norman's opinion. Stronach's behaviour is what you would expect from Madonna or Cher.
Maybe she should get the attention she craves in show business.
When Belinda ran for the leadership of the Conservative Party, my skin crawled when I heard her mutterings. I had to ask myself why she would seek that office. I wasn't all that pleased with my own answer.

I think Bill Good should have stepped in at some point and raised some objection. For him not to would appear that he is on side.

Methinks, in fact Bill Tieleman did say that on air that he personally did not like Ms. Stronach at all as a politician or her politics but that he drew the line at inapprotiate personal comments. Could not agree with him more. Spector was way out of line. And Queenie Bill Good's excuse was that he was speechless at Spector's comments hence no immediate response from him.

I didn't pick up on Tieleman's opinion, and i take back my critisism of his stance. I would still like to hear a one word description if Belinda that describes her better than the word bitch. It suits her fine in my opinion, and her loyalty has been tested more than once and failed on each occasion.

A politician, good, bad or mediocre - your choice. Then what one word best describes MP Mark Warawa? David Emerson's loyalty and lots of others on both sides of the house are just as bad if not worse! And then a lot say she's not to bright. Well look around in the local ridings and I'd say we clearly have MPs who make her look like Einstein!

I listened to Bill Tieleman on CKNW this morning as he had another go at Norman Spector. I'm sorry Bill, but your attitude has taken on a bit of a sanctamonious ring to it.
Spector quoted from Webster's dictionary that the word bitch suggests treachery. My dictionary is a bot older, but it includes: Bad tempered, malicious, and promiscuous.
Given some of Belinda's short history as a public figure, the shoe begins to fit very well.
When will women finally act as equals and shrug off these nasty barbs like men have done for years. Frankly I welcome women into the heat of a man's world, but they can't write their own terms. I'll wager that Belinda has been called a bitch on previous occasions and should have wondered why. So take it like a man would Stonach, and don't give us the hurt little girl act.

I believe the real point may well be when will men treat women as equals especially in the political arena. EG.. look at the old boys club at Township council. Thay are all busy male bonding and generally voting as a pack with only one real voice with a refreshing and different point of view, the remaining female councillor. And from my point of view I certainly clearly see and have seen this pack mentality against the female(s) past and present on Township Council. They were and are barely tolerated! Back of the bus syndrome. For evidence look at the appointments they doled out and gave the female Councillors! One of the local papers also in my opinion clearly shows this same bias as well in favour of the ole boys club. It is especially hilarious since at least two of the councillors pre-election said they would be independently minded! They now are often seem fighting to be the one that explores the Mayor's darkest innermost cavity first, if you get the drift!

That may be because that exploring that cavity has payed dividends. I'm not too sure that it's the old boy's club that has created that atmosphere on council. I am not a supporter of our glad handing mayor by any means, but I think folks must remember the old adage that behind every good man there's a good woman (Close?) Think about that for a bit for bit as you stroke your cat.
