Pierre's remarks do home in on some of the problems for Anglos in Quebec, but really only brush the surface due to the length of the article. A book could be written by many who took Highway 101, and escaped from the subtle applications of facism right in our own country(!). Those that remain today cannot realise the better life that can be had east and west of the Quebec borders. Canadians who never experienced life in separatist Quebec, understandably have difficulty showing empathy with the situation, and as a result there is a steady flow of pandering to Quebec by Ottawa without much in the way of objection. Nobody benefits from injustice when apathy is the only emotion stirred. For fun, just map out the locations where our federal government has intertwined itself with the geography of Quebec, and include the military while you are at it. When you are done, see if you can unscramble the fried egg, and then relate that to how Quebec's stranglehold has grown and will grow further. |
