Key point: ..."IF DEVELOPMENT IS NOT PAYING FOR ITSELF, WHY ARE WE GROWING". Exactly what I tried to say to the mayor during the last election, and he brushed me aside. The only people that gain when growth cannot pay its way are the developers.

Methinks and Me Me Me, imagine if the City of Vancouver tried to fly a preliminary trail balloon 78% budget increase over a 10 year period. All the Vancouver Papers would certainly roast the Politicians long and hard on their audacity to promote/suggest such a large tax & spend financial plan burden. And their well read taxpayers would then tar & feather the politicos they elected!

But this is Langley.

Did you ever think that perhaps the long term, established (at minumum rural easy going) reportage and at the other end possibly a comfortable equally long term 'connected old boys network' within our local newspaper/politicians perhaps may result in an uninformed and uninterested Langley reader/taxpayer perhaps? Sorta of like the Stepford Wives for all Citizens. Should the local papers publishers then bear part of this responsibility? Because surprise, wake up, Langley is not that rural anymore.

The publishers of the local papers have a duty to realise what you say above LFP. They can learn now, or wait until competing publications begin to report more responsibly. I think that readership would improve as well if the local rags would show an inclination towards real investigative reporting. The Langley Advance News would have the most to gain in my opinion. The Mcloud Park blob of cement would be a good place to start. The Redwoods history would be another. They both reek.
