Gravatar It seems to me that in this time of rapid development in the Township we need to invest in arts and sports facilities and parkland for the future. The problem is not that the Township is investing, it is where the capital is coming from.

I'd like to see more redistribution of tax revenue from higher levels of government to assist rapidally growing communities like ours. We need the money as we are growing, not after we have grown. By that time it's too late. But that isn't easy to bring about, so in the medium term we need to ensure that developers pay for more of the overall services required to maintain the quality of life we want for residents of the Township in the future.

Compared to other parts of the country, the Lower Mainland is relatively land-poor, and their is a continued strong demand for land. The Lower Mainland municipalities should be in a strong position to make demands of developers. We just need to keep an eye on working with our neighbouring municipalities and making sure that developers are left with a working profit. They will squeal when squeezed but that's to be expected. It's all part of negotiating what's best for our community.

We should not forget that while "essential services" are required to survive, other services are required to thrive. I for one would hate to live in a community that did not value public space and services.

Gravatar If all the new development in Langlay Township is the problem regarding tax increases, is the solution in charging more for services in these areas? That being said, where are the other cost increases LFP, or Anyone? I just can't understand a blanket increase without a line by line description of where the money is going.

Gravatar My God THE TIMES actually published a newsworthy letter, with Richter using imperical facts.
