Why did local papers not publish this letter!? George will be upset to know that the increase will be more than the survey suggested!
He brings up a good point that the Township 5-6-7% increase does not include other tax increases such as translink etc. which are over and way above Township increases! George is apparently a senior, who are and will continue to be the hardest hit by this Township Council of incompetents.
(Cllr. Richter informed this Editor that she has discussed his letter with Mr Stainton and thanked him for sending it.)

LFP,
I'm guessing it was because it exceeds the 200 word limit imposed by the editors and could not easily be edited down to 200 words without losing majors sections.
Simply put, if you want to get published in the Letter's to the Editor, be succinct.

It seems that Cllr.Richter's recent letter to the editor exceeded the 200 word limit by a long way.....is there a hidden bias here or significant favoritism! What is good for one citizen is good for all or does Richter expect preferential treatement as a Cllr?

Or perhaps the editor at 'the Times' saw the significance of the information and that it needed to be told.
Either way, I'm sure that 'George' wouldn't mind as he had particularly addressed Kim Richter about it as he knows, as we all do, that there has been no Councillor that has worked so hard to try to keep taxes down than Richter.

Queenie, George's edited letter was in the Times this morning along with others that supports Richter's Letter.

Is the Times Editor starting to see the light or is his new publisher making him see the light? Or maybe the taxpayer's are leading the charge.
Bucky's editorial shows extremely reluctant compliance with Richter's concerns but is backing off a very small bit about the inevitability of tax increases!
