Hopefully the additional 2% hotel tax issue is gone for good. The hotels, attractions, retaurants and entertainment places should get on with running their own businesses. Those that want to get together can set up their own alliances and marketing programs. Those that want to remain separate and independent can do so. The notion of a single promotional entity does not work for many businesses. Much has been said about this and now it is time to move on.

Actually, this makes me think of the vote that was taken for the RAV line from Van to Rich, I think they took 3 or 4 votes on it until they managed to keep winning another 1 or 2 votes over to the 'yes' side, they refused to take no for an answer.
In all reality this stinks! I would note in particular if these businesses were concerned in the least, they would have shown up to vote, or had a rep show up to vote on their behalf.
This would be akin to 1 of the councillors not being present for a vote, so they decided to vote anyway, and if it wasn't to "somebodies" satisfaction, they would revote until it was.
I'm not a big fan of Wally Martin and I never stay in a local hotel/motel so it wouldn't affect me, but the whole mode de operendi is questionable. I give Wally credit for not sitting back and taking it.

Wally, LFP hopes as you say that you are victorious and that the hotel tax issue is gone for good. In the face of the ruling establishment's abundancy of pilot fish like bureaucrats/technocrats who sadly & blindly also support these self serving tax & spend & borrow politicians this would clearly be a goliath defeat against the ruling ole boys club establishment. We hope you indeed ultimately win the war as well as the battles.

Why should Wally Martin have to throw away 2% off his bottomline. He does a great job of marketing and certianly doesn't need the Townships help.
Wally and the Hotels are great promoters, this tax was driven by council not the Hotels.
Any businessman in Langley should ask if his industry is next!
What ever to FREE ENTERPRISE

And you hear again and again that Langley is one of the only areas that there isn't this 2% tax. Well, does that mean that we have to conform to all the rest?
Whats wrong with being different and being fiscally responsible? Too bad our property tax didn't lay the same way. The same old boys wouldn't let it happen though, they would be wanting to increase it to be in line with all the other areas, just like this hotel tax.
