I'm missing the math here - how is it that 24 people are more important than 250 people? Isn't democracy about majorities? Where does this mayor get off ignoring the majority?

Another log on the reelection fire by this Mayor and his council slate. Shame especially on the new council members Bateman and Fox for promptly falling in line with Mayor Alberets slate

Alberts Council slate majority is as aloof and deaf of the legitimate public's loud voices and concerns as are Burtons school board slate majority. They are cut of the same cloth. We need to replace all 6 of them on township council and all 4 of them on school board. We need 10 new voices and faces that will listen to the public's wishes not their special interest groups and partisan backers.

We should not be surprised at what happened here. The Township engineering department, has stated publicly that they do not make decisions based on public opinion. This is their attitude in spite of the fact that we have open houses for public opinion. (re: 16th Ave & 248th st )

There is a distinct lack of leadership from the mayor's office, and the fact that 7 councilors turn a blind eye to things like this is disgusting. We are now under the control of the township "Staff" instead of our elected council IMO. The engineering department's conclusion after the open house on the 248th St. and 16th Ave. intersection was a disgrace, and another example of this "like it or lump it" attitude.

Town Council and Education board. It is like the cracking overpass that will collapse soon. Time to have people come forward that have an Idea of what they are doing.

Has anyone been over 200th St overpass? Have you seen how much has had to be chiseled away to keep the over pass from buckling
?

Interesting comments methinks. This does sound like school district decision making. The elected board members stated that they were going to vote to support management, even though they had lots of proof that the decision was financially, educationally and socially disasterous.
I think next election we all need to look for politicians who believe their job is to represent the voters.

Please, please methinks. Your words of wisdom ring true on all acounts...let's forget ALL Councillors those for and against each and every project, idea etc. and lets fire all staff except one. Then we can Ipsos-Reid govern. Whenever something has to be done simply send a letter to the neighbours and then what they say is what gets done. No big picture planning or expertise just design by consent! This shallow thinking of course would end up in a disaaster but spoken from the protection of your enclave of south-east Langley you will never set eyes on the proposed new structure in Fort Langley because you will never get there in a day due to traffic congention and the horrific end result. Once again, Richter for Prime Minister, Premier and Mayor all in one and the rest is done by Ipsos herself.........ho, ho, ho and Merry Christmas!

Gravatar Nah, I don't go over that mess, scared a big black hole will open up and I'll feed into it.....and I certainly agree with you on the 'getting someone elected that has an idea of what they're doing'.

We've got 11 months to work on some changes and as Nike says "Just do it".

Gravatar In 2008 Do NOT vote to reelect,

Gravatar Wink, Ipsos Ried sounds OK if the polling is done only in the township. That's what the open house system was intended for, and if Ipsos Ried were to do it, a much broader number of participants would give a better sampling. On the water management issue, I'll estimate that no more than 400 of the 5000 well owners gave an opinion.

Governments have a nasty habit of hiring consultants to get the result that they want. That's why the song "Don't blame me" is a hit in Victoria. Using staff to take responsibility for decisions that should be made at the council table is somewhat similar. SHIRKING is a word that comes to mind.
