There are too many Johny come lately transportation council members whose real political transportation agendas are in my opinion really a political smokescreen that is really more in line with Liberal Minister Keven Falcon's - essentially no light rail in our lifetime in the Fraser Valley -! Minister Falcon's recent political delay and study restrictions on Rail studies for the Valley are astounding and seem to be unopposed by any Provincial critics or any of the existing Mayor Alberts Council slate. This recent Campbell Liberal straw on the rail study is intolerable and inexcusable.
Councillor Jordan Bateman and Mayor Kurt Alberts seem to me to simply talk and confuse the voters about transportation and achieve nothing. Why? I note that Mayor Alberts was recently introduced and strongly endorsed by Liberal Minister Rich Coleman and Councillor Jordan Bateman is Rich Coleman's long time supporter and is on Coleman's riding executive. Not to mention that Councillor Bateman and Mayor Alberts seem to be on the same wavelength as well all the time!
Where in heaven's name is the NDP critic/candidate in Langley? Who is he or she? And most importantly why does this critic / and even the local party executive not criticize these very clear and comfy Liberal municipal connections?
In fact I note that the only local NDP prominent recognizable executive name(who previously ran) in fact seems to have a wonderful relationship with Liberal Councillor Jodan Bateman! Where is the NDP red meat rabble rousers in Langley? Their absence and in fact their absent and definitely silent congeniality with local Liberals serves no one well and guarantees a Provincial Liberal win here again. Not to mention that this is guaranteed for the Conservatives as well as no NDP or even any Liberal voice is to be found federally in Langley either. And all three elections are just on the very near horizon!
Worse still Mayor Alberts and Councillor Bateman who appear to me to be prominent Liberal Coleman Municipal allies are also guaranteed reelection too. I find the lack of opposition in Langley incredible. Councillor Kim Richter can not be expected to be the only solitary voice of opposition Municipally, Provincially And Federally! Where is the help? Where are the other opposition critics and parties? Where are any of the voices of question? Where are the courageous politicos to question our politicians in Langley? Are there any at all in Langley any more?
Edited By Siteowner - EDITOR"S NOTE: You certainly don't see any better opposition voices in the local media either unfortunately. All political stories are essentially in praise of the ruling political establishment only - VERY SAD INDEED!

Anonymous...I like your spirit.
As the character Howard Beale in the movie "Network" said, “ All I know is that first, you've got to get mad. You've gotta say, "I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!" So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell, "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!"
It sounds like you should put your name on a ballot. My advice, for what it's worth...run for council. Or get in touch with the local NDP provincial people and see if you can help light a fire under them. Better yet, put your name forward as their candidate.
And if NDP policies are not your cup of tea, join the Provincial Libs and try a change from within.
Or get involved with the local Greens.
With three elections coming up soon, you should be able to hitch yourself to somebody's political wagon.

Anon-Y-Mouse I think the commenter is primarily asking who is/are the NDP candidates and why are they so silent referring mainly to thre Coleman libs.? Are the NDP provincial candidates locally simply cannon fodder with a self fulfilling prophecy of abysmal failure in the Langleys? Given the Prov Libs excesses and especially Minister Coleman's to say the least questionable forestry and local actions why not a peep nor any NDP critic what-so-ever? Not even a comment from the local NDP execs! The writer is correct. This situation is tragic and really unacceptable. There should at least be a single voice of criticism and questions! Simply getting the writer to join the party is a cop out. What party ? What visibility? Who? Certainly as I see it in the Langleys!
The total absence of any critic to the local federal & provincial political ruling elite has obviously kept the barn door so wide open that they are boldly all now combining forces and taking over at the municipal level too, at least in the Township. Mayor Peter in my opinion is wisely holding back a similar takeover strategy in the city.

I think we all realise now that the township is in lock step with Victoria. That was obvious when all that back scratching went on with the local MLAs supporting Kurt....as if we weren't suspicious before that. When you combine that sort of thing with Kurt's hidden slate, you easily get the feeling that we are being led by the nose, and we don't have much to say about it.
