Cathleen, I will never understand why Mayor Alberts and his merry band stood idle while Surrey absolutely raped the environment affecting the Stokes Pit are. You have every right to be suspicious.

Richard, to understand, you would have to be a part of the huddle when the developers do their township hall schmoozing. Connections and influence means everything, and is usually developed over time.

Time for change, don't ya think.

I read the press on this and I believe staff was honestly saying that no official bylaw, zoning or development permit applications have been filed in that area at this time.

As for the development process, the applications must be within the guidelines and the Official Community Plan (OCP). Everything gets community signs on the proposed site, and public hearings are the routine. Just this week council voted to reject a development permit application because many neighbours came out to the public hearing to object to the land use. The system seems to work as I see it.

Injector, that's a lot of gobblygook that says nothing about preventing what happened to that ecologically sensitive area. It says that everything was done by the book, but the patient died! Too bad!

It will happen again and again until the administratyion does something to prevent it. Why does the neighborhood see disaster in the making, yet township hall does not?

Townships don't lie Cathleen. People lie. There has been a lot of controversy over events stemming from council decisions over the last few years. I think there's little doubt that Langley Township needs a shake-up at the administration level. At this point in time, I see nothing to lose in doing so, but there could be a great deal to be gained.
