The Ole boys club township council, according to these graphs, better not try to blame full time fire fighters for our dramatic tax increases any more! 
Stop staring at your feet and look up LFP! With the rapid growth in the Township this is exactly the time to be investing in public spaces and facilities.
Just go for a trip around the strip malls and big box stores and watch people filling their lives full of "stuff". Rather than run multiple gas guzzlers, own the latest cell phones and home entertainment centres etc, some of us actually want to spend our money on investing in the future of this municipality.
I'm fed up of your kind of philistine, myopic and stingy outlook on life that you typify. In years to come these investments will be applauded and your whinging will be forgotten.
There are planned prudent, budgeted investments and then there are rash spur of the moment questionable & expensive deals. This Township Council runs on the latter! Bad business style in any corporate org.
The latest rumour is that the $15 million new Hockey arena in Willougby has to date a higher and more realistic committed cost of $37 million as the Township taxpayers portion!
If you Quaker like ever growing taxes and unplanned questionable investments, that's your problem. Any wise corporate entity would replace financially irresponsible Boards and/or Senior execs for out of control unplanned gross spur of the moment spending. I will add another graph tomorrow that shows a dramatic drop in general capital reserves. This again proves the Mayor Alberts led Township council is Tax, Spend & Borrow addicted.
The bottom line is that the township taxpayers are seeing unending annual compounded tax increases. If you can afford this , great. Many others especially old timer rural fixed income seniors are feeling the pain and $1.30 a litre gas is just a wonderfull kicker for them.
P.S. : Your quoted rapid growth is obviously not paying for itself and if this dosn't bother you then you must be a socialist! Do we really need this row upon row housing rapid growth if it is not financially sustainable? The more we grow the higher our taxes! Especially with this Council.

Now the rumored (back it up with evidence - not likely with the LFP editor - just another pullit out of the hat rumor)$37 million taxpayers bill.....stop the rhetoric and be specific LFP Editor! There is more than one reader that is amazed at your lack of insightful detail, just speculative rumour based conclusions.

You betcha! Whatever it takes to expose incompetence and bad/no planning or vision and dreadful financial performance. Not to mention at minimum public misleading attempts bordering on outright lies. Also look at the Township candidates that the previous no-whining at all re-elected ! A cornucopia treasure trove of incompetence.
The lemmings always look up with their heads in the clouds (hence group think cliff problems). I'd rather keep my eyes on reality as Quaker says , on the ground and make sure our feet are based in reality not airy-fairy supported political doublespeak.
PS: For Rennie - Heard that the total sportsplex arena site project consists of Township $15 mill(hopefully) contribution for the building itself, $10 mill for the land and $12 mill for the upgrade of the land itself. Total $37 million. Waiting to confirm this rumour but I think it is accurate.
Also hear that these projects are being fast tracked to cut ribbon in time for next election. Last successful (tongue in cheek!) fast track project was the $3-4-5-6 million grandstand! But for those of you who are prophets of the 'keep looking up' in the clouds or perhaps who are maybe searching for divine enlightenment, this won't phase you at all on your herd mentality group think way off the cliff edge.
But why no intelligent comments/rebuttal on the posted graphs? Only personal rhetoric and re-direction attempts! The graphs are not "just another pull it out of the hat rumor" !!!! 
It is unfortunate, but what LFP says about the sportplex arena will come true. The numbers might be a rough estimate by themselves, but that complex looks very elaborate, and we may be certain that there will be additions and changes that will increase cost as well. Hizzhonour will apply tune up his whining voice, and provide his version of how rational the whole expense really was. His faithful bobble heads will fall in line.
Actually, LFP, lemmings don't commit suicide by running off cliffs. That's a Disney-propelled myth.

A little sensitive LFP Editor, some states an opinion and of course yours is the only right one! By the way, do your research, the land that the multiplex is on was part of the land purchased for the community park in Willoughby, long promised, paid for by DCC's (growth). Scrap the multiplex, it is still a community land asset and worth far more than what I am sure the Twonship paid for it........to put a park in. Why not ask the folks in Willoughby who bougth the land in their house price whether they want it????? I bet they say yes! Opps.....misread this one oh merciful LFP Editor....just looking for a scratch and win story once again.

P.S. They spent all their DCC moneys and they borrowed to buy the parkland! Worse still they are borrowing as well on future DCC revenues. What happens if the economy bubble bursts? We the smuck taxpayers are then stuck with the debt. Also as said over and over again new developement is not paying for itself nor has it been sustainable. To quote Prez Bill with a slight twist, "It's the financials stupid!". Meanwhile still no competent discussion on the horrific facts on the posted graphs! Just pathetic shoot the messenger attempts. Yup, Township Council ole boys club borrowed $11 million this year alone! Let me repeat this for you as well as your fellow J.B fan club, 'Polly Short Sigh' & 'Full of Fibre Quaker', they borrowed $11 million this year alone with interest rates to the bank because they have been spending like drunken sailors on permanent shore leave who are easily enticed by the venera... disease of the lorelei lure of ribbon cutting re-election votes! GAWD, I hope they are proven wrong!
But then again at least one local paper supports everything they do & say and turns a blind eye to their antics. That should help them in re-election! Maybe the Township should re-visit their ~$300,000.00 annual Township pages advertising policy, you think? Hence the only real eye-opener contrarian published locally, yup you guessed it , this little ole LFP Editor! Thank Gawd our LFP readership continues to escalate exponentially!
