All I can say is that they had better not do any additions or modifications to any more elementary schools. The students can walk across the field or down a couple of streets to do the woodworking, cooking etc.

The school has to ensure or monitor 30 mins of exercise starting in September anyway. Make them run, jog or walk briskly the way there.

Anonymous are you talking about the middle school in Aldergrove at possibly Betty Gilbert elementary? I know that the community focus is to keep the 6-8's away from the 9-12's so sharing classrooms may not be an option. They did not want the younger children in the building at all. That is what was said at the consultation meeting.

Yes I mean whichever elementary school they choose in the Aldergrove area.

The issue of mixing wouldn't be a problem as students would be supervised for the one or two classes. No free time to wander halls, etc. Walk to, do the class, and then walk back.

Gravatar I want to know why the Langley Board of Education can get away with all of this. I am very disturbed by my lack of rights as a parent of children in the Langley School District.

There was a program on the Passionate Eye on Monday night about the Board of Trustees in Dover Pennsylvania, who voted to teach children "intelligent design" (creation theory) instead of the historic "theory of evolution" (Darwinism) in the local public schools. All 8 trustee's were ousted from office, and the curriculum returned to normal.

The whole idea of an elected group of people having so much power, scares me to death. A lot of damage can be done in 3 years. Hitler came very close to taking over the entire world in that amount of time.

Our Board of Education has abused it's democratic rights in the worst possible way. It is operating like a dictatorship where the biggest bullies with the narrowest minds get their way. I thought Canada went to war and men and women died so that that would NOT happen to us.

Next November we need to "fix" this huge mess this Board of Education is making.

Gravatar Just a note one way of fixing some of the mess in regards to the board of Education is amalgamating the board ballot. That way then everyone has a say on who represents them and you will not have Board members saying they can't touch me I'm in the Township or they can't touch me I'm in the City. Go to www.members.shaw.ca/amalgamateschoolboard . I will be getting it updated in the near future to read Education board if there is interest shown.

It looks like they do what they want to.

If the school district gives a principal an educational leave when she/he will not be returning to the district. Is it not correct that teachers have to promise to continue in the district for another two years or return any monies received for the leave? This is so that the district can benefit from the learning that they will be doing - makes sense.

One can only assume that any leave is paid, otherwise it would retirement called an early or mid-year retirement, would it not? It is not a question of whether the leave is deserved or not? It is about applying the rules fairly for everyone and what this is costing the students, especially when we keep on hearing from the Board that the Ministry is not properly funding us.

Gravatar I do know that what you mentioned is normally the process in regards to educational leave but I am not sure exactly what if anything anyone specifically has or should receive. That is all hear say so I am not sure, I guess you could someone directly.
