Don't you just love these great Langley Township land deals? We will be posting a summary sidebar listing of all the multiple questionable land deals and fiascos by the 'good ole boys' on Township council in a little while. Surprisingly there are a lot of them! Especially reported by the regional newspapers!
Until more information is revealed there isn't much to add to the article in the province. Right now it looks like another big time give away of taxpayers assets. It may also be a sign that our wasteful mayor is looking for cash for the township? LITTLE WONDER!

Travesty that the Mayor & Deputy Mayor don't even respond at all to the press's multiple calls! That is why we have the two positions in the first place! So much for open, accessible and transparent government. This Mayor's council is as arrogant and making quiet behind closed door decisions worse than any previous Township council slate ever! They constanly force ALL councillors to secrecy because they essentially deem everything as confidential in-camera info. Poppycock! Time for a change! Time for Kim Richter for MAYOR!
Sh! Sh! Sh! maybe the newly affirmed candidate fo mayor would like to comment or is that newqs hush hush too! Maybe the mayor and Deputy (as well as other councillors)were out of town - they are entitled to a life....hum methinks it was Christmas time. Good timing on Richter's part to bring the issue up, wait until Christmas when everyone is out of town and then slam everyone on her blog....why didn't she step up to the plate and comment publicly in the newspaper - she is on Council and must have known about the deal. Sounds like a rat to me!
Wink, thank Gawd there was no major public disaster that the Mayor & deputy mayor would have had to deal with if what you say is true then over Xmas. Not to mention the minor PROVINCE story last Friday well AFTER XMAS!
Not only that! The Deputy Mayor is on a 3 month rotation by all councillors just in case for emergencies when the Mayor is away, tied up or not available. By the way Wink the Township taxpayers also provide them with FREE wireless blackberry cell phones too don't they, for round the clock instant access?
Also the deputy mayor gets I understand $500 to $1000 more pay for those 3 month stints too! Well earned don't you think in this case? NOT!
Either the Mayor or Deputy Mayor especially if they are paid for this job SHOULD have been available and in town for any event especially emergencies! Or were they just hiding from yet another embarassing land deal story in Langley Township?
This Editor suggests that the rotating Mayor seat is simply pandering poppycock and a COMPETENT full time Deputy Mayor should be put in place for the whole term (just like Fire Fighters), if not just for each of the three years. Maybe this deputy Mayor would then take this position far more seriously. It's not just about cutting ribbons and kissing babies Wink! Just think about this for a moment.... If there really was a public emergency would you trust the judgement of ALL the existing councillors as Deputy Mayor just because it's their turn to get the extra money in rotation? Think about this! This Editor cringes at that thought, not mentioning any names though. Think about this!

I thought that was the reason behind having an acting mayor was to cover the position while the other was not available. Why bother?????
Let's face it. There is good reason for discussion in camera when BUYING a property, but there is every reason to be OPEN and Advertise the fact when selling. Where the heck is the mayors & council's brains? Metro Vancouver (GVRD) was screwed just like the rest of us.

OH yea! When there are three groups involved in an effort to preserve this diverse property and keep the most environmentally sensitve areas secure for the future citizens of Langley and further to have the deal to expand Derby Reach Park we throw the property open to any and everyone to make offers on! Well done council you have preserved this for our children's children and when the environemntal and Park groups make their announcments the community will celebrate I am sure. Now that Richter has declared she is running for mayor...the rat is out of the bag! If it smells like a rat then it must be a rrrrrrrr...ichter!

Unlike the other Langley blog site by "The Boy Who Would Be King" that you gush over and blindly idolize that has now clearly become a shell of it's former self and is now the Pravda of political blogs (pure B.S. of it's former banner of 'irreverently chronicling all of the political news and gossip')! Heck, it cares more about whether a Black man or a woman will win the the leadership nomination in another country than whether secret HUSH-HUSH behind closed doors land deals right here in Langley are proper, correct and transparent!
How do you Wink rationalize NOT one peep from "The Boy Who Would Be King"? NO comments what-so-ever on the Hush-Hush secret Dickson Pit type of land deal fiascos despite the fact that every newspaper has written about it and even ridiculed the secret Langley land dealings with now ever growing angry & significant newspaper editorial comments as well!
You would think he would at least talk about the ongoing chronic questionable secret land purchases and deals process that his adopted silent slate Mayor Alberts council keeps using without any proper or any real public input! Not a peep even on the pathetic "good ole boys" systemic council behind closed doors deals! Why Wink?
"The Boy Who Would Be King" 's blog site has now even apparently gone to the extreme and banned his blog's naysayers as well (unlike LFP). Political ambitions liablity perhaps? We understand that a former Cllr. & Mayor candidate, Glen Tomblin, has also been banned from commenting on his blog site as well by the "boy who would be king". This Editor is glad that THE PROVINCE newspaper did not do so in last Sunday's Dickson Pit secret land deals expose!

Of note to all, while not agreeing with the Mayor on this one I will point out in his and Cllr Fox's defense that being in town and available for civic emergencies is substantially different than being in town and being willing to answer questions from journalists.
Just because the Mayor and Deputy Mayor chose not to answer a request from a journalist doesn't mean they weren't around to do business. There is no law that requires the Mayor to answer a journalist's questions.
Isn't refusing to talk to the Press censorship? Selective press releases and more Hush Hush back room decisions and secrecy seems to be a cornerstone of Mayor Alberts and his all male council slate of cronies. I agree a change is required. How do I donate to Richter's election campaign?

Blair, the mayor or his deputy may choose to talk or not to talk whenever they wish. The difference here is that this is a very contoversial issue, and they were obviously avoiding the media until they can locate some ducks to line up.
If they are holding anything back, it only makes them more guilty than they are now of withholding the truth.
I hope the mayor enjoys his coming retirement in November. Better still, I hope he defends his chair and gets soundly defeated like he should be.
So why is it that the Mayor and his boys (small b) can now suddenly talk openly about the Dickson Pit deal? Yet Councillor Kim Richter under threat of God knows what punishment is muzzled from speaking on this topic because it's still in-camera? Why is it out of camera for mayor (small m) Alberts? Sexist Township council double standard and even more censorship of the smart one, don't you think?
Why, I think what the boys allowed to go down speaks loudly for itself. Their urge to speak out reflects the guilt that they surely feel IMO. Kim is just following the rules of conduct regarding what goes on in camera. In camera discussions seem to be more like Behind the Curtain Discussions lately. It's passed the time where what goes on in camera gets reviewed regarding what should or should not be discussed in this manner.
If WINK is so intent about preserving this diverse property, why the heck does he not think that the township should have held on to it? Isn't that one of the excuses that the mayor used when he bought the gosh darn golf course? And it was already in the ALR on top of that! Logic has taken a vacation it seems, among Kurt's gullible followers.
