Gravatar Well Said LFP! If it wasn't so serious, it would be laughable. The part that stuck out in my mind was Kurt saying how he found this group of Councillor's 'the best ever' to work with.

No wonder, they're all in his pocket except Richter, (that bad girl has to go and spoil his clean slate)and he can jolly well have the freedom and power to pass anything he darn well pleases.

Gravatar What everyone in Langley Township has to think, about is WHY these two provincial govenment MLAs have suddenly come to the aid of a failing township mayor. Yes indeed why.

We might also ask ourselves how long this affiliation has been going on. It seems quite apparent that Kurt Alberts has never challenged the actions of the provincial Liberals on matters concerning transportation. Why? Now though, with an election on the way, he will involve himself in a "Study" involving rail for the valley. If we think back a bit, we will remember that Kevin Falcon steered us in every direction but rail for the valley. This was reported in our local press more than once. In my opinion, Alberts has been loyal to Victoria, and not his consituents, and it has cost us dearly.

Remember also how there was never any resistance when The Right to Farm Act was stuffed down our throats, and Alberts had no objections. In one case the stench is causing residents to think about moving to a new location. In fact the township has many ways to "discourage" these applications using its municipal bylaws. Hmm, don't anger your friends?

Bateman (Very tight with Rich Coleman)showed no interest other than curiousity in Valtac when it was first put together. Now he has involved himself openly with Val Trax. Why? Is a division of this sort necessary if both organisations seek the same objectives? Ponder that one for a while, and put weaken the troublesome opposition somewhere into the thought.

Then there's the possible looming disaster of the township's Water Management Plan. I say a disaster because of its very serious downside should it fail. Read carefully how the province is a partner in this venture, but share little of the cost, and nothing of the risk if and when the ground water supply is just not up to the task. Cooperation is one thing, but being a sucker to the experimental desires of a provincial master is just plain foolish. So ask yourselves again...who's running Langley Township in lock-step with our present day mayor?

The bigger question is: Can Langley Township residents put up with Kurt Alberts political slight of hand any longer? The answer is obviously no. Simply replace him with a trustworthy able body that knows how to manage finances(another story). Rick Green looks like the right man at the right time. Maybe even a bit late!

Gravatar I'll tell you something else people. If voters don't get off their duffs and rid the township of Mayor Kurt Alberts, they better never again complain about their taxes. This squanderer Mayor's council must think that township people have no end of money.

Gravatar I'm afraid the taxpayers are stuck with Albert's over ambitious 'wish list'. Lets hope they see the light before the election and get this municipal government back to being fiscally responsible.

At least we've been given a choice this election, can you imagine the carryings on if he had no competition.
I've noticed he's taken a lot more interest in issues and every chance he gets a mike, there's a spiel about what he's accomplished. I think I could recite it all be heart, I've had to listen to it so many times. And, oh those photo op's! No end to those. Bring on the change!

Gravatar The sad thing is that there will probably be no change in Mayor or Council in Langley Township or the City for that matter. People will not care as theyt will be focused on the November US presidential elections and maybe even on a fall Canadian federal election. In Langley the taxpayers are still not angry enough or paying attention to their local government. The turn out will be a historical low and my advice is that Councillor Richter holds off from running for mayor until 3 years from now when the magnitude of the horrendous local tax hikes will hit homedue to the post Olympics BC recession and resulting job losses. Hold off Kim the time is not right. Let this Green guy lose this time and don't consider endorsing either mayor candidates! Not that you would ever consider endorsing any part of the Alberts slate!
